March 10-60 Vs NF Comp 15-55. Which do you prefer for F class and why.

So, they put the best of the best in the March-X High Master. This has just rendered worthless my March-X non-High Master with run-of-the-mill ED glass.

:( :D
Put it this way. I used my new 48X in a 100 yard IBS score match on Sunday. It's brighter than my other Marches without a doubt. It doesn't cut thru mirage like that Aussie guy said when he used Stuart Elliot's prototype. It didn't cut thru mirage no better or worse than my other Marches. It's on par with the brightness and clarity of my NF 15-55. I trust my new March more than any of my NF scopes with all the stories of those scopes with their POI issues that a number of people have brought up. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't miss it if I never bought it. It's like prior to when LT30 was released a couple of years ago. It was hyped up as being the greatest powder for the 30BR to come down the pike. It didn't turn out that way. H4198 is still the king of powders for the 30BR, second would be VVN130.

Yep...I was perfectly content with my NF BR until I looked through a few of the Comps.
Now my gun needs to go on a diet and I can't seem to see my bullet holes, like before.

Dang it!

In all seriousness, my new rifle does need to lose a little weight and I do love the Comp glass. I have not seen a NF give trouble, but I don't doubt Jim or anyone that says they have had some issue with one. Based on my own experiences with them, I have no reason not to buy the Comp Series, but I really like the raised crosshair option of a March.
NF screwed the pooch with their reticle choices, IMO. Seems to me, NF should offer a raised reticle and that it would be very popular amongst the dedicated benchrest crowd. Being etched into the glass, how much more trouble could it be, to offer one more option that may well become the most popular choice amongst the benchrest crowd. One option that could go a very long way toward sewing up the premium optic market for a whole segment of the market, for which they already made accommodations toward. JMHO.

The golf manufactures figured this out some time ago...have you heard about the new Calloway Epic Driver with jailbreak technology...hit it two yards further...for $500 bucks! They are selling like hotcakes:D:D:D

Perhaps you'll see more reticle choices from Nightforce. After all, who did the Dentist acquire recently:)

Yes, your current scope is worthless now, please give it to me to properly dispose of!......I'll take it off your hands this weekend!......:p:D
That's very nice of you to offer to take it off my hands. Very much appreciated. But I'm not a snowflake, I don't shun my responsibilities. I'll dispose of my March-X on my own. I would not want to impose on our friendship and burden you with that unsavory task,

The Comp is an excellent scope. There are no flies on it. My NXS server me well for several years and I still have it. I wanted to step up from it and reducing the objective lens for the Comp was a step in the wrong direction in my opinion so I went for the March-X and I'm pleased with it. (Even though Jade wants to relieve me of it.)

Yeah, golfers, unlike LR shooters and photographers, are suckers for the next new model. In photographic circles we call this a GAS attach (Gadget acquisition Syndrome.) Thank God shooters are immune to it.

Well…..Nightforce is very much an American company that was established here in the USA in Washington State back in 1992 and then moved to Idaho. It is true that it is Australian owned, but still a US established company.
Chinese glass……not quite. Raw glass from Asia and then cut, ground, polished and finished here in the US, yes. But not Chinese. But all of the Competition and Benchrest scopes have glass from Japan. What is made here, depends on the model.

Read the interview with Dr. Dennis. The original scopes (established in Australia) were marked Lightforce, and were made in Japan for his company in Australia (500 scopes). Eventually, he decided to open a company in the U.S. in Seattle. Dr. Dennis had to change the name on the scope due to a company in Washington using the Lightforce name in the United States. He dropped the letter L, and replaced it with the letter N. A quote from the interview: " When it comes to manufacturing, sourcing of components comes from around the world, we get glass from Europe, Japan, China even. Parts therefore become multi sourced. But we make a number of parts ourselves. We make our own body tubes, turrets, and all of our own assembly. In addition to all of our own design. We buy reticles in, as well as the polished glass" End of quote.

If you check all scopes that ar sold at made with parts from another country .
Has something to do with trade . Likely tax related .
Scope for me would be glass ,glass and glass Then eye relief
Where I shoot you always have to deal with condition . Glass make a difference . Eye relief helps you trace your bullets
Leupold makes some fine glass So do all the others . Warrenty On some sucks .
Time years of warranty and days or months it takes to to get fixed .
March had just one year And it took that long to get a problem addressed .
Life time warrenty on the scope reguardless who the owner is for me would be a must . Along with glass . Larry

Agreed on the warranty. One of my biggest concerns with buying a March is not so much the limited warranty, but rather, if a company catering to such a small market will be around to handle repairs at all, at any price.

Well, I wish I could tell you a story about my experience with customer service for the March, but I can't. I haven't needed it since I bought it in late 2014.

Most of what I've heard has been pretty good. My concern is mainly , if they will be in business years from now, to fix my scope, even if it cost me money and a good bit of time. To be honest, they've already outlived what I thought they would. I have nothing bad to say about them and hope they are around for a long, long time.

The reason March will probably always be small is they are not cheap to make and there is very little mark-up. No one is signing up to be a dealer because they can make more selling NF or Vortex. Theres twice the mark-up in a NF and 3-4 times the mark up in Vortex.

I have 4 NF's, a S&B & a golden eagle. I like all of them. My next scope will be a March with ZERO reservations now with Shiraz's involvement.

My frozen Leupold came in for my control scope on the scope tester. I have a NF 12-42, March 10-60, and soon a NF comp 15-55 to test hopefully in the next couple weeks. I'll try and get my hands on the new Vortex to test for poi shifts as well. I will post my findings as soon as the testing is done. I'm looking forward to it.
