Mans Best Friend

Our daughter drives for FED-X and found this little (3.5 lb) guy out in the middle of no where. Figured someone dumped him or puppy mill escapee. She took him to vet and wasn’t chipped and vet thinks he’s 6 or 7 years old. She ended up keeping him and named Houdini. He’s so tiny he’s a cutie

Here is my newest girl Shepherd/Border Collie/Husky mix, the way she howls sometimes she may have some coyote in her too.
Picked up as a stray and needed a good home, I was ready for a new best friend after losing my best girl (black lab) of 12 years last year.
Her favorite position in my shopIMG_1277.jpeg
So much better than humans!

Lost our old dog last fall and finally just got this Labradoodle a couple weeks ago. Was going to get another Lab as I have always loved those but the doodles are great for not shedding. She is 6 mo now and seems to have a heck of a nose on her. Goes everywhere with me.

SeabeeKen Brandy gets my chair, this is her "spot" every morning while I peruse forums early morning, yeah, she's going through a shedding phase, part of daily life with Labs. :)

Took a coffee "disposal" break and came back to this, "Well, you got up..."

A month ago on our daily walk, she busted about 10 quail, ran to the other side of the trees and watched where they went...

Few minutes later, scanning the horizon, really like her posture...

She'll be 9mos on the 18th and already 62lbs!

The chocolate is our 9 year old lab Rika (short for Paprika), and the little yellow squirt just joined us last week, she’s Cara, short for Caraway. They represent the 5th and 6th labs we’ve had since my wife and I were dating. They also carry on the tradition of all our girls being named after spices. Rika only hunts softer spots to lay, but little Cara has quite a nose and interest in birds already.

Labs really are the best!
Even though I love my newest rescue, I still miss my lab with all my heart!

The only thing better than a good dog is a good wife.:) and maybe a reliable rifle that shoots straight. :)

PS: Had four in my life time - all great companions. Would love to have a pet ground hog but wifey over ruled me.:(
You would love a pet groundhog. I had one when I was a kid house broke would sleep in the bed with you. But would steal all your cloths and drag them under the furniture.i miss whistle Pete. Ever get a chance your wife would fall in love with one. Just a big soft living pillow lol

Lost my last gordon setter at 5 years old. She had a stroke as best as the vet could guess. She was gone by the time I got her there. Didn't think I could go through loosing another, but as I'm typing this I've got a 1 year old boykin spaniel laying across my feet. I can tell by these pictures you guys love your dogs as much as I love mine. It's funny how they can latch onto your heart. I know I spoil mine but I figure that dog is maybe 15 years of your life, but you're THAT DOGS WHOLE LIFE, and they deserve our best!!!!

Wow, that would be interesting. However, if I ever had one, that would probably end my varmint hunting for sure.

I had a pet crow when I was a kid. My older cousin found it apparently having fallen out of its nest. It was the most unique pet I ever had. It loved shiny objects; I would roll small balls of aluminum foil, and it would go and hide them. I found it's stash and it had all matter of things, including a few coins. When I came home from school, it would fly out a tree and land on my shoulder.

However, it got me into all kinds of trouble, poking holes in screens, and munching on my neighbor's strawberries, and pooping on clothes on clothes lines were just a few of its unsavory habits.

I raised it from a chick, and I guess it thought I was its mom. I feed it canned dog food which it loved. However, it flew away during mating season and I never saw it again. I guess it figured out that I was not a suitable mate. It took me some time to get over losing it since we were buds.

That pup will be forever grateful and return the love 10 times over.
