Welp Dad brought his out . DPMS .308 with a 3-9 HAWKE . FYI I'm not making fun of my dad I love him to death Really bare bones which admittedly it's more my old man style he always gives me "that" look at my stuff....but always seems really happy after shooting mine

but his hunting style is ,walk around in a big loop till something is dumb enough to stand still ,so more bare bones and light weight works better from him vs my more ..."gamed out " set up. ... But he was talking a little smack about how he spent $1300 on a QUALITY DPMS so ..

Anyhow

Also not gonna lie....this is a nice little 3-9

,
O and finally got him to come to the 21st century and put on some dang hearing protection

got him a pair of electric walkers muffs that he cussed and moaned about ...but now he wears them constantly lol ! Said he especially love them on the tractor, though was a bit of a fight to get him to use any type of support to zero but badgered him into using a front bag but the whole rear bag thing was a no go

And well

Honestly I'm just gonna chalk this up to him buying the cheapest SP he could find.... But when I told him I could hand load for him cant really blame him for not spending $60 for 20rd for some fancy stuff

But hay he was tickled pink he could constantly slap my Gopher target around at one hundred..... Can't say the same about the 4" gong but 1 outta four made him smile.... Told him no head shots till I work him up a load though.
I shot it a few times and it's definitely usable...but yeah I see what alot of them AR guys are talking about not a big fan of shooting it , call me a wuss but I'll stick to my man bun sub 30 cals , that .308 is just really really snappy
Well after all that I brought mine out loaded it up and told him to just point at what he wants gone yeah ended up going 5 for 5, was spotting him and he was just dropping bullets on the same impacts on the steel for giggles .

And I'll tell you what's kinda cool growing up we'd prop up on the fence ra few feet away and thought it was a real sign of marksmanship to be able to hit a five gal bucket! Heck hitting a beer can made you a sniper ! Now

But yeah he was smiling like a 5yr old till he remembered I was there and went back to acting like he didn't like it . Just said "yeah it's really smooth " then proceeded to go around The moon asking whats something he could get like a 6.5 creedmore.....that's not a 6.5 creedmore ( he's always been a dyed in the whole traditional caliber guy .223, .308, 12ga .22lr though.....he's like the low recoil small frame stuff more and more especially since I built him that 6mm ARC )
He said he kinda wants me to make him one up in .243 now but he's still not sure about that "6.5 cre whatever"
I did end up digging around and finding a magpul stock for him though...$1300 bones and they still just give you a milspec M4 stock , crazy in this day n age imo !
