22-250 AR10... because I want problems

Alrighty finally got ahead of some of the chores so now we can focus on this . Btw I can only upload six pictures at a time soooo work with me lol
What am I doing ? Bought the cheapest on sale .22-250 upper I could find and we'll gonna see if I can make it work. 22-250 has a pretty well documented history of NOT wanting to work in gas guns . The ones that seem to work flawless as a whole are the really nice Gucci custom ones ... But a lot of those use special stuff ...and you looking at $2500-$4000 for some I've seen.... For that price I'd hope they would work flawless but most folks aren't going with the cheapest they can get so when I got a 10% off coupon code in my email and saw this upper for sale ...well I just had to lol. What I'll do with it ...well if it doesn't work , toss the barrel throw in a .243 or something. The side charging barreled uppers are like $175-200 plus the handguard...egghh . And if it does work... I guess Ill put it to the " kill something with this " list lol. Honestly wanted a .22-250 but ether barrels are taking forever to be made at custom shops ... Or there super Gucci and run like $900 .... Sorry I'm a poor goober
Anyhow $216 shipped

And here's what she looks like
full-34110-270467-img_20251002_151808500.jpg
So something interesting is I got a lil deal of CLP a note and a manual with his one....I never gotten these from BCA.... Mabey it's just a new policy? Idk

But other then that see to be the standard BCA treatment no rust or nicks dings ect everything is nice and tight and has a lil layer of some kinda oil.

That should be an absolute hoot to shoot. Especially with some 35 grain bullets zipping along at 4000+ fps.

Now for the part I know a lot of y'all love ... The bore scope. This is right out the box no cleaning from the muzzle to the chamber
So I have no clue what this lil squiggles are...I've NEVER seen anything like it
Screenshot_20251002-154811.png
Aannnndd looks like we have a bur where the drill came though for the gas port
Screenshot_20251002-154846.png
More squigglies
Screenshot_20251002-154920.pngScreenshot_20251002-154939.png
Aannnd the throat... honestly is better then I was expecting for BCA lol
Screenshot_20251002-155005.png
O and the crown Screenshot_20251002-154733.png

And gave it the usual cleaning i do with a new cheap barrel because they are usually friggen disgusting.

So hoppes #9 wet patches then dry patches then JB bore paste , dry patches , hopes dry JB and a wet patch
full-34110-270493-img_20251002_162339585.jpg

Aaannnddd yeah definitely a dect lil bur.... Can't really do much so guess wells see what a few rounds will do lol, those squiggles arent going anywhere it seems
full-34110-270496-screenshot_20251002_175522.pngfull-34110-270497-screenshot_20251002_175709.pngfull-34110-270495-screenshot_20251002_175442.png

Alrighty now that's donet time for fitment. If you saw my post about my 6.5 creed AR10 trash build
then you'll know that AR10's are finicky but the BCA and PSA uppers and lowers can work together....with some fitment.

BTW : I AM NOT A GUNSMITH DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK IM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU GET HURT OR MESS UP A WARRANTY

Anyhow this actually is pretty common it seems from reading so yeah... First I'll just try and pop them together because apparently sometimes they will fit without any fitment
full-34110-270498-img_20251002_163918045.jpg
And no dice the back pin just won't go in because the upper receiver has a lil too much meat on the back end and won't let it sit low enough. Last one I did I ground like every thing
full-34110-270499-img_20250629_165718473.jpg
But really you don't need to . Just hold the together in front of the light and you'll see exactly where your getting contact and where you need to grind
full-34110-270500-img_20250629_165602064.jpg
So just packed some paper towel in the recovery and wrapped the rest in a old shirt and went to bubba'inhfull-34110-270502-img_20251002_164541385.jpgfull-34110-270503-img_20251002_165744859.jpg
If you've ever done any stock fitment work it's about the same deal. Sand a lil test fit , sand a lil test fit . Took like 10 min total and got a nice fit barely any noticeable movement at all and cam pop the pins out pretty easy

Yikes. Definitely wear your safety stuff when you start that bbl up.

That bbl will definitely require some patients to start up and settle.

Good Luck and in for the range reports.

Alrighty we got her all put together! Added a light deal of oil to the bcg just a few drops on the body wiped on with a rage and a drop or two the the inside of the BCG.... I don't like just "soaking" and AR ... Know that's some folks deal, not me
full-34110-270514-img_20251002_194256852.jpg
Ok now time for the meat and potatoes of what's supposed to be the big ole 600lb gorilla of 22-250 AR10's... FEEDING ISSUES! like I've said before the big big we documented issue with these things is them not feeding .22-250 well . Ole Ed over on Outdoor Edventers in YouTube has a pretty detail video on his experience ... He's a real off the books hot rodder type reloader btw if that type of stuff scares you !

That and with a lot of posts from places like predator masters and the like , feeding is the main issues.

So initial lil test. Got some factory ammo the other day ...which btw eveyone tells me 30-50 GR is the best for this with its 1:14 twist barrel ...but all I saw mostly was 55gr factory ammo...I mean there was some 45 GR vmax stuff from hornady....but yeaaahhh nah not dropping $50 a box for that mess lol
full-34110-270516-img_20251002_170828286.jpg
As far as mags: seen a few comments about how these could be mag picky and how there's a few companies making custom or modded mags for these ..... Well one place is out of stock and I'm not paying $150 for the other custom one ..... Nahhh. So just gonna use the same ole mag I used with my creedmore
full-34110-270517-img_20251002_173110345.jpgfull-34110-270518-img_20251002_173122455.jpg
Ok first up gonna run two rounds from the mag. Will let me test and see how feeding and lock back works and not waste a ton. I tried setting the camera up so y'all could see the round getting picked up buuut didn't work out .
Anyhow mag in rack back and let it run like. AK..no babying .
full-34110-270519-screenshot_20251002_202801.pngfull-34110-270520-screenshot_20251002_202816.png

full-34110-270521-screenshot_20251002_202902.png

No clue if it picked up an round sk went to pull back to check and this sucker is TIGHT ! had to two hand it but I'll chalk that up to needing a lil break in first... Remember....I paid $216 for this....it's gonna be rough and need a lil work .

full-34110-270522-screenshot_20251002_202922.png
But it did pick one up so set it back in
full-34110-270529-screenshot_20251002_202944.pngfull-34110-270530-screenshot_20251002_203022.png
Aannnndd full-34110-270531-screenshot_20251002_203039.png
And again
full-34110-270532-screenshot_20251002_203218.png

And got my last round build open with was supposed to be ANOTHER issue
full-34110-270533-screenshot_20251002_203240.png
Ooooook... So other then all the smoke on the first round.... No real issues ... Not how this is supposed to be going lol

So I thought and remembered that alot where saying if they don't full load a mag they usually had pretty good feeding but a full mag would make round nose dive into the feed ramps..... Ok soooo let's try a full mag.
So 10rd
This should give us some issues ! full-34110-270534-snapchat_746040070.jpg

So racked the bolt the same way annnnd
full-34110-270535-screenshot_20251002_203817.png
Shes in!
Picked it up perfect.... Interesting..decided to pop this one out and give it a look over and the only thing I could see was the male was a lil dinged up...but not sure if that was from grind against the ramps ejecting or act from feeding

Fed just fine ....so .... Idk if I maybe got a lemon or they upgraded there deal or something but idk ... I'm actually slightly bummed because I was honestly expecting to be doing some tear down work by now but...nope... Interesting.
Anyhow my scope ain't getting here till Saturday so might rob one off another rifle and go ahead and do a grouping test tomorrow...no sure yet
something else. Noticed my case ejection pattern was.....odd . My very first one went right at 1:30-2:00 o clock. The brass is circled in the the red the you can't really see it
full-34110-270542-snapchat_1800112903.jpgfull-34110-270543-snapchat_1804527792.jpg

Here we go !

So decided to just rip the scope off my SPR .223 Wylde . Love this lil ARKEN 4-16 that one of my bipod rear bag and yeah
full-34110-270599-img_20251003_114748969.jpg
Same ammo as yesterday
full-34110-270600-img_20251003_114755880.jpg
And gotta say .. I REALLY wish this was a fast twist barrel because look at all the dang room I got ! Boy 1:7 twist with like a 77smk .....sweet Lord....
full-34110-270601-img_20251003_114803271.jpg
First deal is to check my lil bore sight at 50yd
And yes I'm using a bipod and rear bag...
full-34110-270604-screenshot_20251003_133218.png
full-34110-270602-img_20251003_115557294.jpg
First shot landed low made an adjust and two more stacked but...50yd isnt a good litmus test imofull-34110-270603-img_20251003_120306612.jpg

Now out to 100yd and move the camera a lil so we can see what it looks like as the BCG picks up a round and...not the best butfull-34110-270605-screenshot_20251003_133331.pngfull-34110-270606-screenshot_20251003_133530.pngfull-34110-270607-screenshot_20251003_133546.png

So heres how 100yd worked ,ran five rounds at the center target no adjustment no Chrono graph or anything . One it shows me what the guns will do with a larger group.... Sorry don't trust three found groups the most ... especially with my shooting lol. But also lets me see about what the zeros shift does from 50-100yd. Then I adjusted a bit to try and hit the center and strapped the Magento on and shot three at the left then took it off and three three on the right without any adjustments to the zero.

And
full-34110-270608-image_cropper_1759517654719.jpg

So with the cheapest factory ammo I saw at bass pro...with what's supposed to be a bit too heavy of a bullet....not .. terrible... Not exactly good ..but usable .

No velocity data unfortunately
full-34110-270609-img_20251003_122518500.jpg

But this thing is SUCH a nice deal to shoot like the recoil is extremely mild doesn't really jump or anything either .
And the brass .. no crazy dings or anything but definitely have some ejection swipes
full-34110-270610-img_20251003_124300920.jpgfull-34110-270611-img_20251003_124305296.jpgfull-34110-270612-img_20251003_124410082.jpgfull-34110-270613-img_20251003_124537328.jpg
So ....again idk what's up here .. I don't know if I got a perfect one or a lemon in the since I'm not having any issues but ... No pierced primers , no nose diving rounds , no messed up brass , I'm getting last round hold open/ lock back .... Idk
Also got my dies in and check this out...ole lee stepping there game up lol, just ordered the plane Jane 3 die kit and got this !
full-34110-270614-img_20251003_113750455.jpgfull-34110-270615-img_20251003_113817681.jpg
