Liberty Safe -- Issue with Access Codes

I hope that’s true, but I’m not confident. I’d think the fbi would have something more sophisticated than password guessers and such.

It's hard (read; impossible) to break modern encryption. That's why in the famous case of the san-bear-na-dino iPhone, they had to so something clever and figure out an exploit.

They've been known to buy software designed to crack in to phones, specifically from companies like Azimuth Security.

The search warrant is for the premises that the safe is
Not liberty manufacturing . Liberty voluntarily gave the combo, if they had said no they would have had to get a court order to provide the combo or a search warrant to search liberty’s records for it.
This here is what people need to understand. Thank you for explaining it.

most dial combination safes use a S & G lock which is very easy to change the combo with a change KEY. I Just watched a you tube video and I changed all of mine to the same combo in less than 1/2 hour. I did it for my memory not because liberty might have the combo to my safe.

If you read the full report on Liberty giving the combo out, it is due to a valid search warrant served on a man.
They really have no choice but to give the combo number or be in violation of a legal search warrant or court order.
As for their having the combo number/s to open said safe, 99 % if all makers do also. It is just a fact of life.
From what the report/news release said the man was also charged with several felonies.

Again, no. As in post #12 and again in #36, the warrant was not for Liberty Safe records, so they were never compelled to give the FBI anything.

Apple didn't lose theirs when they refused to open a phone...
EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS!
And recall all the pissing and moaning (including on this site) when Apple held their ground? Well now we are seeing the results of a company caving in to the feds.

Ya there's no sense in getting rid of your safe , worst case scenario have a private locksmith change the lock.... As stated by a poster they did have a warrant so technically they could have pryed it open or cut it , anything really but they are opening that safe with that warrant.... The real thing to do is remove the stickers with the serial number on it.... That pisses me off more than anything.... How hard would it be to find your name in YOUR house and then call them to get the combination and open your safe.... Without that serial number that's not happening.... Safes are mass produced and there's no way of telling which one yours is without the serial number....

This brings me back to a point I have been making for years... Any safe can be opened with time with simple tools but if you have an alarm on your house that will eliminate them getting time to work on it... Please DON'T put the little signs in your yard telling a thief what kind of alarm it is let it be a surprise... Plus another thing check your homeowners insurance to see what they cover firearms wise...mine covered $1000 without a separate policy.... Lol what would that get you back..??? I added some extra coverage for $100 a year and took pictures etc of every gun along with serial numbers and receipts if possible and burned them to cd and thumb drives...

I don't think the Apple comparison is valid here. Apple could do whatever it wants, then fight it in court. They won't get buried in legal costs; they have better and more lawyers than the government. Liberty Safes isn't in the same position.

Under the power of law the FBI can do with impunity anything they want. They influenced the last election with a bunch of lies. Liberty safes saved this guys safe the contents of his safe and his house from being destroyed. Most of you have not seen what happens to a house when a moron with a grinder or gas powered Stihl saw or a 6 foot Johnson Bar does to the inside of your house. If you think that your civil rights will stop these idiots you are wrong. Only a civil war is going to return the country to a place where liberties response would mean anything at all. Wake up and smell the rot and stench that is the federal government. Bothe parties send people to "represent " us and almost all wind up billionaires from a job that makes them $160,000 a year. It isn't from tips from a grateful populace.
