Lapua New Packaging

Here's a random handful of maybe 20 with the worst shown from that handful. Brand new. Shameful.
Those are worse than any I have ever received from them. However, if I had to bet, my guess is that didn't occur in the small plastic blue box in their travels. During their processing at the factory when they are in HUGE containers, they are much more likely be deformed.

Probably more something like this. (CO recently passed this law)

Last box of Lapua I got a couple months ago had about 10-12 with dented necks. Not what you like to see when spending that money, but also Not a huge deal if you prep the brass anyway.

I'm not sure what the OP is complaining about, that packaging looks WAY better to me than those ridiculous blue boxes. If that's Lapua's new packaging, it's about time they caught up with the rest of their competitors and packaged their brass in a way to minimize damage during shipment.

On a slightly different note, my understanding was that Lapua indefinitely halted production of Lapua .308 Win SRP (Palma) brass (and several other types) last year. I was not aware they had started production again. If not, how could that box be new production .308 Win Palma brass? Something doesn't seem right here. Could that be older production brass in a new box? I haven't seen Lapua .308 Win SRP brass for sale at online vendors in a long time. Maybe Lapua is also trying to save blue plastic as part of the war effort. ;)

Has anyone else received new Lapua brass in their cardboard packaging?

I just received two boxes of brass for my F-TR rifle and it was not in the trusty Blue box . I will say the new packaging has more protection from shipping damage but im dissapointed.

If the cost was a factor then why was this also the most expensive palma brass we have ever seen.

Lapua, can you please bring back the blue ammo box?

Rant over.

No old gold box love?

So people are mad they’re getting brass in a well designed cardboard package and prevents damage to the necks. I for one never used the Lapua plastic boxes for ammo storage. I won’t miss the Lapua plastic boxes for a second. I won’t miss dinged up necks - while they were only a nuisance they’ll be gone now.

If Lapua packaged their brass in quality cartridge boxes like Peterson and Alpha that would be fantastic. But they need to fit their stuff in ocean shipping containers and so the wasted space may not be feasible for them.

The packaging was put in place to help reduce/eliminate damage to the cartridge cases incurred in the shipping process. At one time we used a foam pad in the blue boxes to help with cartridge case damage. Unfortunately, the foam reacted with the salt air and turned the cartridge cases blue where it contacted them . Because of this we had customer demanding exchanges thinking the brass had been "over annealed" . So we removed the pad and had an increase in damage. The original GOLD and BLACK BOX the complaint was that box was to lightly constructed and didn't survive the rigors of handling in the shipping process . So the Blue plastic box was put in place to resolve that issue . Now we have the new carboard box that keeps the brass separated to help with damage in shipping. It is not a COST issue. Its a damage issue.

i’d say its a step backwards in a sense….alpha, adg, peterson is doing it right, especially alpha with their two layers of foam for unloaded/loaded ammo

Lapua does a fine job with their brass, I have zero problems with it except for the donuts and that is not a Lapus problem
