Lapua New Packaging

It appears to me, that no matter what a company does someone will complain and bitch. Maybe they should start their own company and learn the what and why's a company does as they do, at times.
Yup. I'll adjust.

I use the blue box. I load in 100 round lots. After 100 is fired, I pop the primer and put the in the Dillon for a hour. Back in the box and off to my buddy for AMP annealing. Much easier to handle the cases for me. I have a few boxes with 25 firings, 6.5 CM, no hinge problem. I have some empty boxes I will recycle.

The packaging was put in place to help reduce/eliminate damage to the cartridge cases incurred in the shipping process. At one time we used a foam pad in the blue boxes to help with cartridge case damage. Unfortunately, the foam reacted with the salt air and turned the cartridge cases blue where it contacted them . Because of this we had customer demanding exchanges thinking the brass had been "over annealed" . So we removed the pad and had an increase in damage. The original GOLD and BLACK BOX the complaint was that box was to lightly constructed and didn't survive the rigors of handling in the shipping process . So the Blue plastic box was put in place to resolve that issue . Now we have the new carboard box that keeps the brass separated to help with damage in shipping. It is not a COST issue. Its a damage issue.

How can salt air get in a box when it is sealed with your tape? Or is your factory around salt air? On a side note I use your Lapua brass for 90% of my ammo. I live in an ocean salt environment and have never had a salt air issue with your brass. However the other day I got to try Peterson for the first time for my new 6xc using 20 new cases. After firing the cases were left in my loading room and the the inside of the necks looked like they were adorned with crusty turquiose after 4 days! I had to scrub the necks with a bronze brush so I could get them into my mandrel die!!

Gun powder ingredients have a type of salt. Primers may have too.

Thanks for the explanation, Phil! Most here are happy to see the old blue plastic box go away and welcome the new packaging. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Many people bitched about the blue boxes for years, and with good reason, IMO. Now they're complaining about about the new box, which is actually much better for minimizing damage during shipment. I guess it's simply not possible to please everyone.

In any event, I'm still far more interested in how someone was able to get Lapua .308 Win Palma brass in the new packaging just a few days ago when production of this brass is supposed to be indefinitely halted. Can you provide any useful information about this? Was this older stock some vendor still had lying around? That seems unlikely with the new packaging. Has Lapua started manufacturing .308 Win Palma brass again?

I bought some Palma brass in the new packaging in the UK a couple of months ago. Seems they did a small run that soon sold out.

Ned, we had deliveries of 308 Palma to the UK back in the summer. It was quite widely available for a while, but was billed as being from a one-off shipment. So, Lapua must have done a production run relatively recently.

Has anyone else received new Lapua brass in their cardboard packaging?

I just received two boxes of brass for my F-TR rifle and it was not in the trusty Blue box . I will say the new packaging has more protection from shipping damage but im dissapointed.

If the cost was a factor then why was this also the most expensive palma brass we have ever seen.

Lapua, can you please bring back the blue ammo box?

Rant over.
As long as the quality of the product is there I see no concern over the packaging.
