LABRADAR PROS AND CONS

I use my LR to measure BC by JBM and atmosphere data by Accuweather via the nearest station ( 3 miles away from my range).
I've become aware of slight variances in BC from shot to shot. I'm not sure whether JBM, Labradar or velocity ES is the cause of the discrepancies. I shoot most Berger bullets untrimmed or pionted.
Anyone notice this?

And for anyone that is worried about bench space, I use my LR off of a tripod.
No bench space necessary.

Pod works great for me as well.

I use a magnetic mini usb charge cable.
Once you install the male portion of the magnetic system, it stays there forever.
No wear and tear on the mini usb port that way.

Watching this thread with interest.... How bout 17, 20, 22 cals and the stated 4000 fps speed limit?

Probably more like 3900. An internal clock speed limitation, -I believe.

The fastest I have tracked so far was 3929 fps with 32gn Nosler Spitzer (#35216) from a 204 Ruger, tracking with readings out to 70 yrds. it didn't capture a reading for my 90 yrd interval. Perhaps I still have to work on my aiming or it just has a tough time picking up the smaller bullets at distance.

I just checked my data on spreadsheet, ...it only read for 12 of 25 rounds. I think I have to work on my aiming, lol.

Or, it may have it's limitation on picking up small caliber boat tail bullets too.

I was thinking the same thing. You could certainly just accept the accuracy value given by the manufacturer. However, for most of us, it would be by comparing it to another chronograph, that also may, or may not, be accurate . I've used a MagnetoSpeed concurrently with the LabRadar. The values and trends were very close, although not identical. The data provided by either unit has been close enough that predicted drops at distance are spot on based on the input muzzle velocity. I'm satisfied that the LabRadar is plenty "accurate".

Watching high speed cameras of rifles being fired, theres no doubt that the bullet and powder blast exits the muzzle well before the rifle ever begins to recoil.

Its best to use the shortest mini usb cable you can find and velcro the power supply to the side of the unit. Mine came with this even the velcro

All it does is once it gets triggered, however that happens, it waits for a projectile to enter the radar field out at like 15yds or so and tracks that, then it actually calculates muzzle velocity based on speed decay at each yardage. This is why the trigger method can be a few different ways

I see. So youre saying that because it tracks and transmits readings at different distances, it doesnt necessarily need to pick it up right away at the first point because it can judge speed at the rest of the intervals out to 100 yards...?

Yes the trigger only tells it to get ready to watch
