LABRADAR PROS AND CONS

I guess I've had worse luck with the Bluetooth on my LR. I'm using an S9 phone, and it drops connection on mine pretty often. Once I got the buttons/menus etc. down after the ~2nd trip, I just kept using that.

Still, of the chronographs I've used, the LR is absolutely the best. Keep in mind guys, we're only listing the negatives of the LR...if we listed the negatives of the others, you might start to see why a LR is so nice.

It's also not as though every 'con' I listed is insurmountable, because it's not. So long as you aren't horrible with 'technology', you'll have it down after a couple of range trips. The point I was trying to make is that the 'out of box experience' isn't as simplified as something like a MS.

I've owned screened chronographs, the Magneto Speed, and the LR. I only use the LR these days, and everyone I know who's gone to the LR pretty much shares the same opinion.

I did not like the interface using the buttons on the unit itself. However, once you go to Bluetooth, it is extremely easy to use and not "clunky" at all.

BTW...I retired, but still own, an Oheler 35P. It just sits in its case now since the arrival of the LabRadar.
Have you tested the 35p against the L,R? What FPS difference was there? I know one is muzzle and the other is typically 6-10ft from it. But curious?

What would you take for the 35p?
I will give you $75 and help you out by getting the contraption out of your way.

I ve owed a P35 and although it worked most of the time it did have its moments and setting up the screens was aggravating.

I had bluetooth connectivity issues when it was first available. They provided firmware updates for the Labradar unit and all works fine. Only con is AA battery life. The external battery is a bandaid fix.

First thing I did when my LabRadar showed up.
The average difference was around 2-5 FPS.

Put the 35P away and it hasn't come out again....LOL

only bad thing i don't like about the labradar is setting it up on target at 400m plus .. now an Fclass target out to 1000 is easy but the small Bench rest target next to others other targets can be a pain butt but other than that its great .. the Bluetooth used to cut out all the time but doesn't do it at all now and its make the use of the labradar so much better

So, you can work this, right off a Smartphone?
Yes. But the interface/software is horrible using an IPhone 8. So much so that I use the buttons on the machine rather than wasting time with the Bluetooth interface dropping and having to reconnect and reload.

The interface has never caused me an issue.
However I use an Android platform phone.
As far as the iPhone goes, I have no idea.

Labradar makes a case for it.
I said a good case. I think the Lab Radar brand case is fabric, I'm not sure how good the padding is and I'm pretty sure it's not waterproof.

Most of the good waterproof (pistol case style) cases are rectangular and when you fit a squarish Lab Radar in a rectangular case it winds up being much larger than it needs to be.

How big of a case do you need for the unit? I have some Invicta watch cases that measure 9.75"x12.75" on the inside.
I think that is too small but I also think Lab Radar could have made it narrow enough to fit if they tried.

Setting up my MagnetoSpeed screens is easy. I just turn the unit on. :)

Highly intuitive.

I dont need a 500 horsepower engine on my lawnmower, either. :)

Only con is setup and price. With bluetooth and sales that eliminates that. I cant setup screens at my local range so that leaves labradar and magnetospeed. I havent used the latter since labradar came out. The factory bag is fine- lots of padding. Im sure its not waterproof but who needs water resistance on a chronograph- not sure what kind of ranges yall are visiting o_O
