LABRADAR PROS AND CONS

I have no idea how long standard [AA] batteries last, I've never used them. The USB rechargeable battery I use lasts a long time. I've never gone through more than ~25% (one single indicator light) of the charge during a range trip, many of which last at least 2-3 hr. As noted above, I turn it off while the barrel is cooling, or while the range is cold for target change-out. The LabRadar is not allowed on the firing line during F-Class matches. If it were, this USB battery would have no problem recording for 3 x 20 min strings.

Just to be clear I mean the AA batteries don’t last that long if you have the orange light on where it’s armed. I don’t know about the usb packs and it lasts a lot longer if it’s not armed

Yes - AA batteries are what I was referring to when I stated I have no idea exactly how long they last. I have only heard anecdotally they don't seem to last very long, just as you stated. The rechargeable USB batteries seem to have much better life per charge, and the one I provided the link for really costs little more than a couple packs of AAs. No reason at all to use regular batteries IMO. Just buy a USB rechargeable and be done with it.
 
Well, I took my $499 LabRadar out today for its first outing. It worked great!! Had one little hiccup, (operator failure) but, quickly fixed. Also, the target stands at the gun club I belong to are all set kinda low. I had to put a piece of carpet on the back legs of the Arkco base. I just ordered Arkco's ball mount. I should have done that in the first place!! After using the unit for just one outing I quickly figured out some kind of ball mount is almost a necessity. Oh, did I mention the unit is peaches and cream!! I had a USB battery pack from who knows when. The rating on it is 6000 mAh and it lost 1/4 power in about 20 minutes.

Nice. Happy it all went well for you. Hoping to try mine out real soon. Too much on my plate for now.
 
Brown truck came a few days ago but today was my first chance to really look it over. Raining out today so I set it up in my 10M air gun range I have in the basement. I wanted to see if I could get it to work with out the optional airgun trigger. It wouldn't trigger in the standard mode but in the doppler mode it triggered with everything from a .177 to a .30 cal, didn't miss a shot. I also double checked it against a F1 Shooting Chrony and the two either read the same or within a few FPS of each other. The best part is I downloaded the app and you can arm the unit from your iPhone. It will be 2 weeks before I can get to the range to try it out with my PB rifles. Looking forward to it.

Just like to thank everyone that posted here with info. It made setting everything up pretty simple. The app could use some improvement but other than that I'm initially satisfied with the unit.

Also if you're connected to anything else via blue tooth with your phone forget about using the app. The unit just turns itself off in a few seconds. I tested that out with a portable speaker I have and as soon as I turned off the speaker the unit functioned as it should.fullsizeoutput_635a.jpeg
