Labradar competitor coming

100% agree.
Also don't need to pay for quality that I won't use.

For me, a good example is a Mercedes vs a Ford. [I would use the Cadillac vs Ford example but I don't think there is any difference between a Cadillac and a Ford or Chevy except the Cadillac costs more and has more problems because they like to rapidly introduce 'technology' for the sake of being 'leading edge']

Unfortunately, I've seen plenty of Mercedes (and BMW for that matter) in the service lines at their respective dealerships. By today's quality standards, their ALL the same. But if individual's vanity requirements help generate the economy, I say go for it.

Nope I'm from Alberta. Right off the website, I was wrong saying the Maritimes, but a touch west.
Labradar is a product of Infinition, Inc, Trois-Rivieres, Quebec Canada.

I think that makes sense. I wonder if the Labradar people are ex-employees of the munitions research facility nearby (CARDE in Valcartier)?

Soooo...you think ya got a good one there! Regrettably, since last April, I have to go into my urologist office once per quarter for a cystectomy up the urther, to get a look at the inside of my bladder. Not pleasant, but here is how the first episode went down. I'm sitting there in all my glory while the urologist breaks out his instrument. I can't believe it, appearance is identical as my Hawkeye (except his has a straight eye-piece, and rubberized shaft). Shortly, the discomfort is over, and I remark, "That looks just like the Hawkeye that I use to examine my rifle barrels!" Urologist responds, "What did you pay for your Hawkeye?" Hoping to impress him, I reply, "$1,100.00." He retorts, "Mine costs $35,000." To which I reply, "May I borrow it sometime?!" He just looks away.

Dan
I go through this every 6 months except they have to put me under. Much larger scope, between 5-6 mm.
Actually going again on Monday, May have to have bladder removed, keeping fingers crossed for better results.

Let's wait and see until it comes out. Then we can compare it to other competitors. Who knows, it may the latest and the greatest for the fraction of the cost. I don't think we know what the price point will be and how it will perform. Just my cent and half.
After my Labradar came apart internally and worked intermittently before that, I will likely give the Caldwell version a run on a few new barrels which have just arrived. If it works for as long as my Labradar, more reliably, for a lot less cost then I will be happy.

We have all become accustom to the "Iphone" level of interface... immediate and fairly easy to navigate. Labradar feels clumsy on the interface... it like running a early generation PC (where's my boot disk). You push the button and wonder if the "Black Box" received the input... wait 5 seconds and then impulsively hit the button a few more times for good measure. That said, the Labradar really starts making sense/user friendly when operate it through your Iphone App. Suddenly, there is no delay when you input/select... instantaneous agility by the machine.

Also, the external microphone for suppressed or kinetic trigger is a big improvement when shooting at busy range or one with obstructions/baffle system that interfered with shot trigger acoustics of Labradar. For the price tag a kinetic trigger should be included with the machine.

If anything, a competitor may force Labradar to become more competitively priced... a sales price on special holidays would be nice and stop mandating a rigid retail price for your vendors.

Not at all but its just like hawkeye losing 98% of their gun business over a $50 chinese borescope. Nobody buys quality they buy on price
I own a Teslong also. If the chinses had spent another $3.00 on a Light adjustment control knob. They would of put hawkeye totally out of business. Just my assessment from using them. The savings, I used on my V3AT
purchase. I love to buy High end tools but my wife does not see it that way (all) the time, so I have to show her that I am trying to save some money.:) $1500.00 verse $50.00. win, win. I personally think the TESLONG borescope is a wise buy. It's one of the cheapest gunsmithing tools I own and it works as intended. I've had mine now for a little over 2 years and it gets used on a weekly basis's and it's working great,, for my uses.
JM2C. LOL
Realistically, you get what you pay for, and for the money the Hawkeye,, as far as quality, and being a higher end tool, is by far the winner. JMHO

I don't currently have a chronograph, and don't shoot competitively, heck I don't even hunt any more with where prices have gone for that endeavor, but if I was in the market for a chrono and found favorable reviews on the Caldwell I might be prompted to buy one. I'm not even reloading at the moment because I have factory ammo for everything I shoot that I'm not even using up right now. Unless the law has changed manufacturers cannot require a retailer to sell their product for a specific price, hence the "manufacturer's suggested retail". They do, however, sometimes play some other games in product availability and other ways that indirectly pressure retailers to conform to their minimum suggested sales prices. I saw that first hand in the welding supply business years ago by one of the largest machine manufacturers. It was common knowledge at the time.

Reviving this. I haven’t had a problem with my LabRadar since using the JKL trigger. However, I don’t like the LR folks lack of taking customer feedback and implementing changes to fix them. Bluetooth with mine drops out easily and I hate operating the LR without the phones APP.

Interested to see what this Velociradar brings, but I do find it odd that we are now almost in July and they have said nothing. No video on its use, not updates at all. They need to learn from the LR mistakes and it looks like they have with an internal rechargeable battery pack among a few other things.
The LR not coming with an internal or external rechargeable battery pack is probably LR dumbest design decision; just a bunch of AA batteries.

Not sure what you mean about the battery pack. I ordered my LabRadar years ago from Bruno's and bought a rechargeable external battery/cable from them as part of the complete setup. I'm still using it. No, the external battery I purchased wasn't manufactured by "LabRadar", but there are literally dozens of manufacturers that make rechargeable external batteries under $20.00 that will work with the unit. Maybe LabRadar didn't feel the need to re-invent the wheel at the time. I've never once used internal non-rechargeable batteries with mine. FWIW - LabRadar now sells a 10,000 mAh rechargeable battery with their name on it, although I have no idea who actually manufactured it:

Well aware of that they sell those battery packs, but they do not come with them as a standard. It should 100% come standard with an internal or external rechargeable battery pack. I use a 20,000 mAh external battery.
Really, you shouldn’t have to spend another $100 for accessories for it, battery, case, stand, and an inertial trigger to use it.
I have both the Magnetospeed and LabRadar and used the Magnetospeed for 3.5 and could use it right out of the box. You can’t use the LabRadar right out of the box unfortunately without accessories they sell to you afterwards or in the after market.

If Caldwells radar works reliably and accurately out of the box, without having to buy extra accessories, it will sell well. It’s suppose to operate at 60 Hertz which is rather confusing choice, but we shall see.

The problem with the unit having an internal battery pack is that it they only have so many charge cycles to its useful life.
That would mean having to return it for repairs.
