Jewell trigger dead after three shots

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a Jewell trigger. I personally own and use over 30 Jewell triggers in both competition and hunting rifles. They range from one of Arnolds earliest triggers, even before they were made out of stainless, to the ones he sells today. I can honestly say I have never had any trouble from one of his triggers after they were installed and adjusted properly. I am not saying I have not encountered trigger/ignition issues but none that have been traced back to an actual trigger failure. I am sure occasionally one may get out the door that might not be perfect but I also know that every manufacturer strives for 100% reliability/QC and very few if any ever achieve it. I know Arnold and Brian very well and was shocked to read this thread especially the comment where Arnold told someone on a phone conversation that Brian ran the business into the ground! I know Arnold would never say something like that about Brian. Arnold and I have been having coffee every Saturday morning for years at my home/shop. I can assure you Brian Jewell will never knowingly put out a trigger that is not up to the high standards that Jewell triggers have always been known for. Arnold and Brian have always served the shooting community with honesty and integrity. If you have an issue with a Jewell trigger please give Jewell triggers an opportunity to resolve the issue. No one is perfect but if you purchased a Jewell trigger that does not perform I am confident Brian will make it right.

I am not doubting the OP had an issue but a call to Jewell triggers might have solved the issue or he could have returned it for replacement/repair. It takes years to build a good reputation so we should keep that in mind when we fire up our keyboard and get on these forums.

Woofie had me doubtful as soon as he said he dropped the action on the shop floor and broke the Timney.

I hope he doesn’t delete it because the accounts of support for the quality of those triggers will be gone.

It’s kind of like a price gripe about this or that at Bruno’s on here, is always going to turn positive.

I have to disagree in this case. @Woofie acknowledged having an issue, not attempting to adjust it, not attempting technical support from Jewel, and allegedly discarding the unit.

Then, @Stan Taylor remarked that customer(s) have/are cancelling orders for Jewels based on this information.

This thread is affecting other people's purchase decisions based on the opinion of one user who obviously shows zero intention of resolving it with the manufacturer and zero remorse for the impact this thread is having on others.
I talked my customer into take delivery of said triggers I told him I will inspect them personally for any problem.

I run Jewells in all my comp guns except one Kelbly's that I'm trying a B&A comp trigger in. While I like it, going forward I will just go with Jewells. Never had an issue with ANY of mine, and I've run them in some pretty horrible conditions. Similar thread was started years ago on the Typer Sniper forum. Guys were bailing on them left and right. Most of those guys are using the latest greatest 2 stage triggers. I did shoot with a guy whose jewell went off on bolt close. The spring behind the shoe fell out because the adjustment allen came all the way out. Occasionally someone at a match will want to shoot my rig. Without exception, everyone is blown away with my trigger. I do take em apart once a year or 2 and clean them. Absolutely no complaints with mine.

I tell ya what is sad I have 4 of the current BR triggers in the mail as we speak and my customer read this bullshit on here and instructed me to cancel his order so I’m right there with @butchlambert on this post.
It is very easy to cause lots of issues for business people when you run a product down on a forum of this size. The OP should have given Jewell a chance to make it right and from my experience they most certainly would have.

Many years ago when I was putting together my first custom rifle I stopped by the Jewell shop, told them I was just a notch above clueless and needed some help in selecting and buying a trigger; they treated me like I was the customer of the month, sat me down at a bench, explained everything to me, showed me how to install the trigger, set the weight of pull for me, told me how to clean the trigger, sold me a trigger, and told me to call back if I needed any help.

Pretty good folks in my book!

And this right here gentlemen is how easy and how it could have been handled.
On a side note, I shot a Bix n Andy yesterday for the first time, 10 rounds in a Bat action .308 FTR rifle, one word, SWEET. 7oz.

Yes, I know quiet well I have had my own threads deleted
because I have told the TRUTH about some peoples business
dealings on this board. Just trying to save others some grief, but it
wasn't well taken. No it wasn't any of my competition.

I have no way of knowing if the thread has done any harm. My
business is far from being "GREAT" anymore. LDS

I'm suspect when it starts off with I dropped it on the trigger.. Then the new trigger wasn't right, good luck but after many Jewell trigs I haven't had trouble.. Please let us know when you get it functional and how that came to be..
