Jewell trigger dead after three shots

I don't have a dog in this race, but when it comes to warranty issues
w/a Jewell trigger, which is very seldom, my web site very clearly states,
I do not become involved in warranty issues. I do not make repairs or exchanges.
The trigger must be send back to Jewell.
That may seem hard to some, but I will explain. I'm a reseller only, I don't have the ability
or the parts to work on a trigger. I would then have to send it to Jewell costing me what I had originally made on the sale, plus wasting travel time in the mail.
I read a statement made by Arnold Jewell, something similar to this, If you have a problem
with our trigger, tell us, not others. We fix problems.
BTW Josh, I'll be watching for your order. LDS

Just anther datum for the thread: I had a Jewell fail-to-fire at a match after about 3000 rounds. It felt like something inside broke. I had to forfeit the match, then when I got home, I took it apart expecting to see broken metal, but just some grit and oily substance (probably cleaning fluid and bolt oil from the dozens of f-class matches it had seen).

I cleaned it up, reassembled/adjusted per Jewell and it worked fine for another 2000 rounds or so at which point I got another FTF at a match. This time I finished with a spare Timney that I now keep in my bag. The cause of this failure was that the pull-weight set screw came out. I later found the set screw and spring in my rifle case, so put it back with a little thread-locker this time. We'll see how long that lasts (it has outlasted 3 barrels).

Overall, I'd consider the Jewell to have performed well. It was my fault that I didn't keep it free of debris, and partially my fault for not checking the set screw (partially Jewell's fault for it losing its interference fit).
All the instructions that came with my jewell triggers said clean it out with pressurised lighter fluid only ever did it once seem to work fine for me

as stated earlier i did have an issue . when pulling to fire felt cruncky for lack of a better word . i could not get it out . i called jewel told them i thought it might just be dirt . sent it back they worked on it came back with the same issue . sent it back again and issue was resolved . i didn't miss a shoot because i have three other jewels so i just put an extra in and off we went .
when building a rifle i always recommend jewel . set mine a 3 oz without an issue . just bought two more this pass week from larry for customers rifles .

Hi Larry! I got a little frosted when I read the “Mrs. Larry’s shoe fund” comment. I know you’ve been hit by scammers lately and taken a bunch of hits. I also know that profit margins are tight with a small business like yours. I thank you for your good services and fast shipping!
I’ll be putting my payment in the mail to you for a Remington bottom safety model today.
Thanks!

I seem to remember 5-7 years ago, may be off on the years numerous comments stating in essence ”since Arnold Jewel turned the business over to his son, quality decreased and customer service declined” or similar statements.
It is difficult for me to believe any company could survive for 5-7 years making/selling “ suspect” merchandise. We are a relatively SMALL group of consumers.
Have read many comments stating “issues” with CG, B&E, Jewel and others.
To me triggers are like beer, different beer/trigger for different folks.
I had an issue with a CG, one 5 minute call to Tom M, issue resolved.
No one knows how to fix a trigger problem than the designer/manufacturer.
Contact Jewel.

Other than my own fault for messing up following the instructions, I can honestly say I have never had a problem with any of the several Jewell triggers I have had over the years. I currently have three custom rifles and all three of them have Jewell triggers. If I thought there were better triggers out there that didn't cost an arm and a leg I would have bought them.

Here's what I know for sure. I have five Jewels. I have never had a problem with any of them. All five are set to fire as low as they possibly can. Never have had a misfire, never had a accidental fire. The only maintenance is cleaning them with lighter fluid once a year. I could buy the $400.00 triggers and I could get the Italian trigger. Neither is going to do the job better, nor will it have a better warranty.

Further, I have no use for folks who badmouth a manufacture or seller who has not contacted them first to get the problem fixed. As far as tossing a $200.00 trigger in the trash, my only comment is Bullpoop.

I am sure my initial thought about this thread was shared by most everyone that read it, something was hokey about this whole situation right from the start. Like another member said, who throws away a $200 trigger without trying to figure out the problem??
I can understand. For people who have limited free time, it can be appealing to throw money at an issue.
The issues in this post is thinking one defect from Jewell was representative of their quality and slamming them in public without checking with them first.

I even have a Jewel AR trigger in my service rifle thats actually quite nice! I did have it get out of whack during a match once, readjusted it following their instructions exactly and was back on the line next relay and no problems since then! I have no plans to ever take it out because they're a PITA to install, but they work great!

Agree 100%. All six of my Jewells have the "C" spring installed and adjusted as light as I could set them with no mishaps period. I don't think I would be better satisfied with any other brand in my rifles.
