It's getting tough to support the local gunstore

What a great site. Spell check and grammar correction all rolled into one. Before you challenge my grammar, I`ll warn you I`m highly educated. My best three years of high school were tenth grade. ,,,,````'''' Jeff

A bunch of "whiners" that failed to plan ahead and now think they should be treated 'special'. The news has said gas prices are gonna' go up because of the refinery shut-downs because of the hurricane. Wonder if they bothered to fill-up before the price increases hit us? Look what happened to the price of hamburger and most other meat when the supply was interrupted and demand increased, and all the other 'wants' at the grocery, too. And now you want a 'deal' in a sellers market... I'd bet lots of the small LGS struggled for the past few years from low sales because of low demand. I'm not saying there should be gouging, but when the price to replace what's on the shelf goes up, so should the price of those items still on the shelf waiting to be sold. Supply and demand, that's how capitalism works. I can't think of any other retail business that doesn't sell at current price when their prices increase.
Wow. I opened a can of worms with this thread. I have been PM'd some serious hate and I think I need to clear the air a little - it's getting fetid.
I walk into my 3 LGS's like a boss. I treat them fairly and I spread the dollars between each. I do like the one closest to my house, but...
Where I was going with this in the first place is that I can't support the LGS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET ANYTHING, NOTHING, NADA.
I'm that guy. I got there first and supported them - and left bare shelves in my wake because the LGS only gets 1K primers, 2 one pounders of Varget, one 8 pounder of H4350, 2 boxes of 200.20x, and I jump on 'em. If they had more I would buy it.
I lived through the last couple shortages, and I am stocked up (very very well), but I am concerned. I am dipping into my 3 year supply and getting replacements is impossible at the LGS. This shortage doesn't seem to have an end in sight unlike the election panics before.
I want to support them, but they just can't get a break. I think there are a lot of purchasing managers playing the game as well. The "big box" stores don't seem to "trickle down" to smaller outlets, leaving me (and I am sure many others) to drive 2 or 3 hours to get components.
Rant over. I just want to get Retumbo and 250's, TAC and 450's again without shipping delays and looking at a friendly, local face.

Don`t pay any attention to `em. I reread your OP and the some of the posts following prove reading the whole post matters. I agree with you as far as buying locally as much as possible. And I do. I walk into a bank instead of using the takeout window, just to interact, sorta lost art with some. I don`t buy online unless it`s something I can`t find locally. In other words, if I can`t drive there I don`t buy there, Happy Sunday Jeff

My closest LGS which is half owner of the range I belong to, informed me yesterday that he is selling primers for $10.00 per 100.

The shop needs to bring in a certain volume to cover expenses. If they can't get the volume they need then they need to get more for what they can get. Not knowing the business, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

My LGS treats me like a prince and kept our modest requirements satisfied so we (wife & I) could pursue our sport and periodically mitigate rodent depredation.

I don't have a problem giving him $10.00 per 100 if I needed them. I'm sure I have more than he has. I wasn't complaining . He's in need of pistol primers. I have a stash and I don't load pistol anymore. Ca-Ching.....

I love paying a visit to my closest LGS, The owner is a Vet, Knows his stuffs and know how to pick your interested. He understands all his customers, Plus his weekly email blast is something you don't wanna miss.
