Interesting Criteria for Private Firearms Sale...

Every new law is just another freedom lost.
It amazes me that people think these feel good laws do anything.
I have spent time with violent criminals and no law will stop them from there evil intentions.
If Jesus was alive today he would be considered a fellon by our legal system.I belive most of the apposiles were incarcerated also.
God bless
John

It is just incrementalism. They play on peoples emotions and if you are against their "reasonable gun control" they will brand you. That is why the NRA laid down for background checks. Even the republican establishment class in Washington are law hogs. The more laws they have the more ways of entrapment they have. Face it government is a control freak.

I am guessing that a majority of people buy into at least part if not all of the argument that government needs to control those of us that are deemed unworthy of freedom. Gun control is not just about guns. It is about control. It is a means by which they can control the populace at will without the fear of retaliation.

The progressive liberal mindset is a seething political philosophy of Marxism and control of the masses and they are doing a damned good job of it.

You dont make a very good liberal thinking like this. Or republican for that matter. You may be a Libertarian and not know it lol.

Most people are more Libertarian than they think.
It used to be that when you got out of prison for robbery you were handed back your firearms. Do I like the idea of giving a felon back his gun(s)? NO! but it doesn't matter because he is a human being and has the right to defend himself when he has served his time. Felons in most states can have their rights reinstated after a period of "good behavior" and a hearing by the sentencing judge. The problem is that the decision is in the hands of an elected official with little constitutional training or background. Constitutionally speaking once his time is served then his rights are returned.
I do take comfort in the fact that anyone who commits a breach of the law using a gun can be prosecuted. The exception I have is that they are not always prosecuted because of full courts and plea bargains.

I hate minimum sentences and zero tolerance laws. They have taken the brains out of things. Should a dumb 18 year old kid never be allow use of a firearm for stealing a car radio? How about a real life instance like my uncle getting in a fight at a bar after coming home from Vietnam? Handed a machine gun to go to war, come home and get in a fist fight and now your a felon who cant own a gun? F-that!

Some might think these questions are consequence of mental illness :)

Ok, this is a year old thread. I stand by my opinion though. Run for office and start pushing your will on others, you'll fit right in. ;)[/QUOT

Stealing one car radio will not make you a Felon, neither will a bar fight.

Keep in mind that STATES determine what a felony is...so a car radio theft in NY may be a misdemeanor while in Texas it may be a felony (if the caddy has horns on it). And a bar fight may be a few punches thrown and then beers bought...or it may be a felonious assault, depending on the crowd, the participants and the jurisdiction. So it is possible to grab up a felony for "little stuff".

What's wrong with the idea that if it could be illegal Don't do it .
A good day to me is a day at the range .
And definitely not a day in-jail or court thinking about it .
Remember guns is a Federal offense..

I was just talking to a guy who, twenty some odd years ago, he and a buddy tried to steal some beer for their high school graduation party. Never even got ahold of the beer, "attempted burglary" and a felon for life. No guns, no driving through Canada, etc. The only time he's ever been in trouble. This was in Wisconsin.
