I think I have a case of "dead soft" brass....

I don't use the bath method, so I can't give you first-hand knowledge on how to use it. However, the basic principle of annealing is to raise the temp of the case neck and shoulder only, to 650-900 degrees. I'm not positive on those numbers as I couldn't find my resource to confirm them, but it's pretty close. I do know that 1000 is too high. Initially, i was going to tell you to lower the bath temp to around 800, but if you do that, you would have to leave the cases in the bath longer for them to attain that temp. This would result in the case body, and possibly the base, being annealed also. Not a good thing! I would use the 1000 degree temp, and reduce the time the cases are in the bath.

I don't know if Tempilac would work in the bath. You might want to send the company an email and ask.

I annealed my next batch of brass (223 rather than 65creed ) at 850F and it seems to have done a decent job. I'm thinking I'm going to stay around the 850F range for a while until I see something that tells me it isn't good enough. Bullets seated consistent into the 223 brass.

I can put some Tempilac on the case along the length of the brass on the outside. The stuff that gets submerged probably won't make it, but the Tempilac above the salt bath line should tell me if its getting to 750F there, as well as how far up the case gets to 750F.
