Hornady One Shot Case Lube Reports

I've used One Shot to lube thousands of cases and IF you clean your die first, after using other case lubes, I have NOT had a case stick with One Shot. Just easier to use than Imperial.

Used properly, it works great! I've loaded tens of thousands of 5.56 Lake City brass on my progressive press with it. No issues. Spray, allow it to dry, and make sure you've got clean dies so it doesn't stick to the previous types of lube used in the die.

I use a freezer bag, spray the brass and shake it a few times. Then let it dry in loading blocks.

. Clean your die interior with acetone making sure it is free of other lube.Let it dry then spray inside with OneShot. Let it sit for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Put your cases in a zip bag or similar and give it good spray while moving them around. Let them sit for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then you will have no issues.

I am going to get started on my new years resolutions today. I sized about 400 rounds of Lake City 223 brass between yesterday afternoon and this morning. Had 2 cases stuck so bad i had to drill and tap the primer hole and use my homemade stuck case tool. HORNADAY ONE SHOT is going in the trash. I either get stuck cases or shoulder dents there is no in between with that stuff.

Forum Boss: Read the following posts. Most Hornady one-shot users say it works extremely well, when Applied Properly.
I’m with you ebb! Screw one shot.

While I do know there are those here who love one shot, I am not a fan. Stuck cases with it more than a few times. Before One Snot I used an RCBS pad. and the goop you had to work into it. Since 1973 I only stuck maybe 3 cases using this set up. Enter One Shot. Yeah, stuck cases became a bad habit, No thanks.. Imperial now. For those who love it, party on Garth.

Used One Shot for years when I reloaded for USPSA, Open and Limited. Brass went on a cookie sheet where they were given a light spray and then rolled around. Let the brass dry and start cranking rounds out on my 650. NEVER a problem.
Use Imperial on my rifle brass.

Dry or not, never stuck a case with it. Spray enough from the midline to the case head and sizes like butter.

I have started trying Ballistol as a sizing lube. So far so good, but may need a dry tumble instead of a shake in a towel.

When it comes to One Shot Lube, there is a certain quality to quantity. I literally soak the cases on the outside with it, spraying from all 4 sides, and have never had a single stuck case. Used properly, One Shot can be very delicious. Used improperly, it can be quite unappetizing.

After decades of doing this, I have found Imperial to be the best for low volume SR competition. Wipe On, wipe off -as Mr. Miyagi (Karate Kid) would say. Economical, no waiting, no obnoxious aerosol fumes- actually no odor at all, no over-spray, no special rack or block, no chance of lube getting on inside case necks-especially uneven amounts. I can precisely control how much to apply and where to put it. Imperial tin, fingers, and soft rag- super- convenient to take to range for loading for matches. I have tried all the others and they are just too messy. K.I.S.S.

I use it sometimes. Mostly on bulk 223 cases. I'll usually only do 100-200 cases at a time. I spray it and go do something for 20 minutes or so. When I come back the cases are dry and slick feeling, ready to size. I'm a fan. Never had any issues I can trace back to the lube. On bigger cases like my 7mm rem magnum or 500sw mag I use imperial. I load way less of them so hand lubing each one isnt an issue and they run through the die much smoother than when I spray them with one shot.

I also clean my cases spotless with a rotary tumbler and stainless pins. Before I did that and I only used corncob media in a vibratory tumbler one shot didnt work as well for me. Seemed to gum up a bit. I am guessing that was from dirt/debris on the cases not removed from that style of tumbling.

How do you guys clean your dies? What do you use? I'm still getting issues ( previously post on a thread I started on the case wrinkling.) The issue is where the main body of the case ends and starts to taper to the shoulder. Note: I've never cleaned my .243 die with anything, just sprayed it with RCBS lube. Always had good results. Vent hole is clear.. Not trying to hijack thread. Thanks.
