stupid LUBE question

How are you applying the lube ?

Imperial, Hornady and Rcbs case wax lube are lanolin based, the only thing better is pure anhydrous lanolin.

Buy a two pound tub for the same price as a few small tins of Imperial case lube.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with the lube. If your shell holder has a poor fit, you’ll pull the rim off with very little effort.

My Lee shell holder in .223 was giving me stuck cases. Redding fit much tighter and I’ve not had one stick since.

I’m a fan of the Hornady wax. Sort of like Imperial wax souped up.
You got me started on the Hornady wax. I like the way the case feels cleaner after just wiping it off compared to the Imperial.https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1012732777?pid=198318

A “rougher” finish creates space for lube to reside in the non-contacting areas. There’s a balance to be had between “rough” and perfectly contacting surfaces as the latter are prone to becoming taper locked.
This has not been my experience. The mirror finished polished dies have always outperformed the factory stock finished dies. With the smooth surface you can get away with far less lube, however you still need some lube. Even with polished cases and polished dies I have never had a lock up situation. The less lube you need the better, it reduces the chances of case dents and tends to give a more accurate shoulder bump. You really don't want lube building up in the die. In fact if I'm doing a lot of cases at one time I sometimes stop during the process and clean the die.
