Hornady One Shot Case Lube Reports

I am going to get started on my new years resolutions today. I sized about 400 rounds of Lake City 223 brass between yesterday afternoon and this morning. Had 2 cases stuck so bad i had to drill and tap the primer hole and use my homemade stuck case tool. HORNADAY ONE SHOT is going in the trash. I either get stuck cases or shoulder dents there is no in between with that stuff.

Forum Boss: Read the following posts. Most Hornady one-shot users say it works extremely well, when Applied Properly.

Imperial is on my bench right now, I just thought about shortages and figured i'd use the one shot up before i switched.

Thats too bad because once you learn how to use it, it works great. I've used since it first came out and I have never stuck a case with it. I've used it on everything from 22 hornet and 17 rem. to 50 bmg. I've only ever stuck one case in my reloading career and that was using the rcbs case lube and pad. Still it was my fault. I have been reloading since 1982 by myself. Learning with my father and grandfather before that.

Yeah. I've resized ~ 10,000 cases with One Shot. Never a stuck round. Have had dents, though.

I prefer Imperial but I've never found a bad case lube. I'd be looking at a possible cause of problem other than the brand of lube. I started in 1965 using Vicks Vapo-Rub and it worked well. I've also used plain Vaseline. However, I've used the latter two only for full-length sizing; never tried them for heavy duty case forming, though they might work fine for that.

Dents are caused by too much lube on the shoulder and the sizing die not being vented. I have used One Shot on over 100,000 cases and highly recommend it when used as directed.. Spray and wait for the lube to run down on the body of the brass. Most cases get stuck around the .200 line due to lack of lubricant that far down.

Read and follow the instructions on the can exactly. Especially about shaking the can and waiting for lube to dry before sizing.
I have used it for many years and I have never stuck a case. Also make sure you are using Case Lube, not the One Shot cleaner and lube.

I used One Shot for years and never had a stuck case. I applied it while the case were standing upright in a Sinclair lube rack which tends to promote uniform distribution of the lube.

I stop using it several years ago, not because of performance issues, but because of the cost. I was alway running out of it or the can wouldn't fully empty.

I switched to Imperial Sizing Wax. This is great stuff but you have to careful applying it and not use too much. It's more time consuming to apply but a tin of that stuff last me for years and I love it. Besides the much lower costs, cases size easier and more uniformly. Once you become familar with using it, I think you'll like it. I least your reloading budget will like it. :)

The common info relayed in this (and every other thread on One Shot) is that the user read and follow directions as written.
EDIT
*****IF YOU USE BOTH ONE SHOT (for large quantities of brass) AND ANOTHER CASE LUBE (example Imperial) for small jobs it is MOST IMPORTANT to follow the directions concerning cleaning the die of all other lubes before using One Shot.
