hobo oil

Received my sample last night for the cold weather testing (thanks Bryant). Lubed up my dry model 7 bolt and into the deep freeze for 24 hours. Will let you all know the results tomorrow night.

Remember my shotgun days running into STOS from Ponsness Warren (Slipperier than Owl Sh*t) After I used it, I could NOT pick anything up with my fingers still wet. But alas I no longer shoot shotties.

Pulled the rifle out of the deep freeze tonight after 24 hours and cycled the bolt. Still operates smoothly, just not as slick as when at room temp. Does not feel gummy or sticky, should not affect it in a hunting situation. I would not hesitate to use it on my hunting rifles in the winter months, or any month of the year for that matter. Smooth and slick as can be after thawing out this morning.:)

I buy these little bottles on amazon. They’re the perfect applicator for the “essence of hobo”

thanks a bunch for the experiment, glad to hear the results, that's the coldest it has been tested at to my knowledge:)

Just got my bottles yesterday (Thanks) Had to try it, have an old 22rf bolt action had since I was a kid, bolt has always felt a little rough. Put a drop on my finger and rubbed on bolt, put drop on Q tip and put i action. That bolt closed like it was on rails - thought I grabbed wrong gun. Im a believer.

I received the Hobo Oil a few days ago and cleaned and re-lubed 2 rifles. My Model 7 is just getting broken in and the action is starting to smooth out. Well, I cleaned off the old lube and applied the Hobo Oil. The difference is very noticable. Much smoother. The bolt glides with gravity.
I also cleaned and relubed my Marlin Guide Gun. This lever action had about 3 friction points when operating it. After relubing with the Hobo oil it slicked up and I think it's about twice as fast as it was beforehand. It still has the "bump" where the bolt contacts the hammer, but with a dab of oil there, that too has helped. I think that this lever gun might now give Chuck Conners a run for the money in a "lever race" with him. Lol.

Thank you! I'm trying to learn here. There are a lot of products labeled as grease, high pressure grease, not so many, not sure which way to go.
At what point, starting with the closing of the bolt to load the next round, to the firing, then opening the bolt to extract the fired case could the galling occur?
Thank you!
