If it's an ammo issue shouldn't the gun still close on the go gauge, which it doesn't?

Not if it is chambered too tight for a Go.

I would send the reciever back and explain the problem in detail.Secondly I would find out if stag or rra makes a side charger and buy it. When fulton gives you their usual line,get it back and mount it on the wall as a constant reminder not to buy a lesser brand.JMHO

As far as I could find, the FA was the only side charger out there. I sent them an email, and obviously need to give them a chance.

Regarding chambering, the two barrels that I tried on the Fulton upper both worked fine with a standard flat top upper, with no problems of any kind.

There has to be something that keeps the bolt from locking into battery when there's a shell in place but not when the chamber's empty. It has to be within the upper itself as far as I can determine.

Is there anything I can look for to see what's holding up the lockup within the inside of the upper?

Does the bolt handle touch the reciever without a cartridge in the chamber. Secondly with a round going into battery,is there a larger gap between the reciever slot and the handle.I would compare the two.

Negative, all of the tests I did were without the bolt handle. Also did not chamber with another stock BCG.
