Looking to put me together a sporter for IR 50/50 from some components I have around. I’ve got a CZ 457 and 40X. I do 40X conversions to take Vudoo mags and this one has been done. I’ll need to fit a barrel to either but would prefer the 40X I’m just not sure I could make weight. If I try it I’ll glue in a bushing and then bore and thread for a 3/4 tenon. I’m sure that’ll add weight and then I have to worry about bottom metal. I can try to find or make an AICS bottom metal from delrin or something to save weight but questionable if I’d ever get it into a stock that size?
Would it be legal per the rules to gut and shorten a mag or even cut and modify one width wise and make a custom bottom metal for it that’s smaller? I doubt anyone has tried this with one of my converted actions so it’s probably a unique situation and I’m just not sure what the rules would allow. I can always scrap this idea and put a factory tray back in over the magwell and make it a 10.5 or 13.5 with the barrel on it. I just thought it’d be cool if I could make it work.
If I were to use the CZ what stock have you seen people use or what would you recommend? I’ve been able to get these things to shoot surprisingly well but I’d still rather use the 40X for sentimental reasons.
