used 22Rim fire barrel

I have a friend that has a benchrest 22 barrel for a rim fire 40X for sale. He said it is very accurate and shoots circles around the factory 40X barrel. My 22 RF 40X barrel is OK but not like my Anschutz. What would I have to do to make this barrel work on my action and is it worth doing? Thanks, nilebartram

You may need bushing if his barrel has a 3/4-16 thread on the tenon. If it is a 1 1/16-16 tenon it will likely need some machining for headspace.
In either case its most likely needs to be re-chambered.
All doable, but unless you or a friend can do the machining will cost something.

To answer this I would really need more info . 40x barrel contour or strait bull . Tenon dia and length . In any case it would be treated as a new barrel , cut tenon to fit your receiver , cone or cut extractors , rechamber . I would also recrown it .
What make barrel ? How many rounds thru it ? Length ?

Well, if your bud says it's a shooter, the LAST thing you want to do is recut a chamber. That is as important as the barrel and, if it ain' broke....
If it is a bit long on the headspace somebody knowledgeable can machine a shim and cut additional extractor slots.....2 sets is not a real problem.
If long, chasing the threads a bit and adjusting the tenon is not too tough.
If it all goes to hell....then recut a chamber to use the barrel. Just make sure it's done by a bonafide RIMFIRE smith not your local pipefitter.

It will screw in. Check headspace and don't forget the cuts for the extractor.

Sorry I thought you were going to install the 40x on an anschutz .
