100 yard match, my friend stephen brannen, him and his father own and operate Proteq range, shot the match with me. He shot it with my rifle and ammo and he shot a 1170-58×.

Im just so afraid buying a 1950s or 60s 54 and it needing a barrel or worse.

I wouldn't purchase a rifle sight unseen. See it. If the action and trigger are ok, the worst it is going to need is a new barrel. If it is a 40 year old rifle especially a "club" rifle in Europe, it probably will need a barrel. Take that into account with the price to be paid.
