Got a question for you all

Look I'm not saying it was a false advertisements but the seller assumes responsibility of packing. Now a third party, the USPS, says they will not cover it financially because of the packing. Now if I turn it over to them, to have their claims department look at it, I have no control over it for x amount of time and could possibly lose it.
Also if I send it to be repaired it could cost up to $450 to be repaired and will cost $100 just to send it in, because of the sellers packing, I find that a hard pull to swallow.
Put yourself in my shoes.

Through this site, I sold a, used one time, Chrono chronograph and told the buyer before shipping, I didn't know for sure if it worked. Told him to try and use it and if it didn't work, I'd refund his money and let him keep it. Not talking $500 but still not peanuts. The dollar amount wasn't worth my selling reputation either. I guess it worked, I haven't heard back from the buyer. Having said that, I think a good compromise would be to get it repaired and have the seller cover those costs.
I have no problem going that route but can't get a response.

I have and learned to never buy a delicate electronic unit like a scale from anyone other than a vendor or in person and seeing it function properly. Thanks for sharing your story.

I think that's something we all need to remember. I've had boxes arrive that looked like they got run over by a truck. I've had others look pristine on the outside but have loose bullets rolling around inside. Open it up and find taped factory bullet boxes broken open inside plenty of bubble wrap. You just never know how hard those boxes are tossed around or dropped in transit.

because its not putting him out,the man offered to look and see what could be done,so you might have to pay shipping, where are you at now, many here offer services free
its what we do , its what we are.Darn,I'm starting to sound like a commercial,,
Well said

This is a tough one for sure! But my gut is telling me we must keep the community "TIGHT" or we are no better than the open junk market that is out there. I purchased a Sightron III on here (my first) and found the experience great. ARshuter I hope the seller comes through by Monday this is a great community full of many people with integrity. Just my 2 cents.

I have an AD Scale. It stays on all time. I had a power surge, and the first time I looked at the scale, it was off.
I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. Later I tried again and nothing happened. The 3rd time I got an E.
I couldn't get it to turn on. I finally decided it was toast, and turned it off. A few days later, I turned it on, it acted normally and has been working ever since.
Your results may vary. LDS

I finally heard back from him. His reply is "remember there is risk to the transaction on both sides of the fence, you just can't put it back on me for everything. It was.packed in bubble wrap and properly sent."

I had one bad deal so far. I sold a working chrono from Stienert Sensing. The buyer said the battery compartment was corroded. He shipped it back and I refunded his money...Ok so far. I emailed the company in Norway and they checked the serial number on the bad unit. Wasn't mine. He basically switched a non working unit for my working unit for free. The company made good on the replacement without any issues, so all was well...but I remember this guy, and I will always remember this guy.

Sorry, I snickered a little when I read this, what a loser, he took the long way around to get a working unit, when he most likely could've gotten the same replacement deal you got. And it would have been a new one.
