Friend showed up on the range

We have a fox at our local range. Her den is about 20 feet from the walking path to the 100 yd targets. She's raised four litters there so far. Deer travel back and forth at the 300yd even during matches. They just don't care about the noise. dedogs

We have deer that come out to graze all the time at Machias (Seattle R&P Assoc), have had several matches halted for them, and several times have to call for those in the pits to come out and chase them off.
Get accustomed to no one hurting them, and they are not in a hunting area either. So can be considered pets at this point.

I had a cow moose walk up out of the pond onto the range a while back. Didn't seem to bothered by anything, but then Moose never are.
Recently had a flock of turkey's work down from the 200yd range to the 50yd range where I was shooting my rimfire. Walked directly across the top of the berm. And they're portrayed as bright for some reason. Not the one's in ME!

If you have ever Shot a Prone Match at Vale Oregon ? The Range is on Open Range.
There is always Cattle in the Impact Area.
The Great Old Guy that runs the Matches is Doc Brown.

If you ask Doc about what happens if we shoot one of the cattle ??
He will look over His shoulder and say very nicely ( Barbeque ).

I don't know if one has ever been shot ?

Years ago, when I was a gunner in an M1A1 Abrams tank, some cows wandered onto a live range. A tiny little part of me ***really*** wanted to know it looked like to see a cow take a 120mm (inert) HEAT round. But of course I didn't do that.

That has to be fort hood! Cows were on the range all the time there, and we had to stop shooting until they walked off.

Yes. I was the first one to see it. I might have been able to get away with it, but it's just not right.

Slight hijack: we had a Lieutenant who no one could stand. It was was really difficult not to laugh he went into the command tent and found that a cow had left a fresh patty on his cot/sleeping bag/books.
