Hi Clay,Have you guy tried this format out yet?

Hi Clay,Getting ready for our first BR match using etargets for eyes at 600, record targets will still be pulled and measured by hand. The etargets will allow all the shooters to see hits on both the sighter target and both record targets.

Most of our shooters are super excited about bringing the benefits of etargets (in this case shotmarker) to long range benchrest.
Special thanks to Adam MacDonald for helping us with this setup.

@shoot4fun, @DJSBRS, this may be something we could do if enough members have Shotmarkers.Good morning,
Yes, Adam agreed to establish this three target configuration for Freedom Benchrest.
Joe, the local shooters are bringing their personal Shot-Marker systems for this match. That is also how the local 600 and 1000 yard F-class matches are ran. We simply “team up” and get it done. Extra bases are $35.00 a set and then you have the cost for coroplast and frames. I bet this sort of thing is doable for many ranges.

Hi Clay, I know of a couple of us in our club that have them and a local bank has given us $1,000 towards buying some more. I’ll have to float the idea of using personal units to get us started and see who might be willing to get one. Our friend Jeff is doing the same thing with his group up north in Seattle. We will submit a grant application to the NRA Foundation once the grant process opens up for 2024. But even if successful it would be a couple years from now before we got funded and the units purchased. Once we get the sighter issue worked out on our range it will be top notchGood morning,

Here’s the work on our new 600 yard berm and the new firing line we completed last summer.

Clay,Hey Freedom Family,
I have a question for all of you.
Right now under the Freedom Benchrest rules, we can use etargets to see sighters and record rounds as their fired. If we pull the paper targets each time and measure groups by hand, they can be sent in for records.
Now, if we decide to shoot entirely on etargets...... not pulling paper targets each time. Just shoot your sighters, hit the go-for-record button and shoot your record rounds (while watching on the ipad or tablet of some sort and you can see your record rounds hitting the target). Reset the etarget and you are ready for the next shooter....no pit duty! The match is good and within the rules, and as I understand it, Freedom Benchrest now has a separate records program for matches shot entirely on etargets. Again no paper pulled, using the electronics to measure groups and score.
Maybe, @JBauer will come along and verify that we do in fact have a separate etarget records database for those matches shot entirely on etargets. I am sure that is what I heard, just giving him a chance to correct me if I am wrong.
Lots of reasons to do this: lack of pit crews, save time, save money, etc.
Here is the question,
How many shooting ranges or clubs could start hosting matches, large or small by using etargets?
The reason I asked
Not so many years ago, we lost our f-class range. Our match director set up a 600 yard f-class match with personal etargets that a few shooters had. We shot at a range without pits and made it work. Without etargets, we could never have pulled this off. I just wonder how many clubs or ranges could be in a position to host some local matches closer to home with this new technology?
Thanks

This is the prototype frame
The official frames do not have holes for binder clips as we will use big push pins to secure the targets. Additionally, the official frames are a foot taller

John,LOVE the e-targets, what is the height & width off your target frame. this is a question for Blake can this be used for a national event.
big john
YepIf you are shooting electronic targets and using them for scoring, there would be no need for 3 targets on a stand. All shots could be fired on one target.
AlexAre you going to still measure the actual target?
If a Match Director chooses to use a clean paper target for each of his competitors, over the e Target, then the paper target could be considered for a record as well as the e-target recording would be. Freedom BR will recognize e-target reports and paper targets for records in their Individual categories. Are you going to still measure the actual target?
