Clark Shen is 89 , walks with his wife in my neighborhood . Stopped to talked to them one day and they were telling me they were competitive shooters , I shoot benchrest so we had a nice conversation and they invited me to see his trophies and plaques . He shot 30BR , I was blown away when I saw all the matches he won , 75 at least . Went to this forum to look up 30BR , reading articles and there he was Clark Shen . Clark is dealing with Parkinson's , I wish I knew him back then , Not many things empress me but he Clark Shen sure does .

Clark and his wife, whose name I have forgotten, shot in St. Johnsbury several times. He drove me crazy with his style of looking through the scope to put the crosshair where he wanted it, then taking his eye totally off the scope and looking downrange to read the flags. When he saw what he wanted, he pulled the trigger without going back to the scope. He trusted his set-up and shot very well.

Hard to believe but it has been 6 years since I have seen them. They used to come up to Southington Ct. to shoot, they both shot. He used to shoot both VFS and Hunter at 82 and give almost everyone a beating. Jim Myers built a few of his rifles and once told me Clark held a few world records, Clark himself would never mention it.
If you would can you link the article I would love to read it.
P.S. A later thought I would bet that more than a couple of those plaques come from Bell City, IBS score matches.

The article wasn't about him , his name was mentioned winning matches . I wanted to read about the 3OBR that was the caliber he told me he shot . I wasn't familiar with the caliber . And there was his name , now after he showed me his winnings he is wearing his first place IBS 100 yard hat . Great Guy . I will hopefully see them today and will take pleasure telling him all I found out about him . I'll add Clark Shen to my list of Hero's. We live in Plainview LI, NY.

Cw308 I am pretty sure he set his records shooting 6ppc and shooting group. If you ask Sara I'm sure she will remember. Also ask her about her shooting in score matches. They used the same bench but she had her own rifle. I think they had a daughter that shot once in a while also, but I could be confusing this with another older gentleman who has since past.

I know they have a son , he won a few matches also Clark's wife Sara won a few also . I want to pick his brain on his reloading methods , I haven't seen their rifles but I saw his reloading setup , very neat . Sara practice's with a 30 lb compound bow in the basement for exercise. Next time I see them I will have alot to talk about . I'm into benchrest shooting , I don't compete but to think a world class shooter is a few houses away from me and I never new it blows my mind . I'm sure he could teach me a few things and I've been shooting benchrest for 25+ years.

One time he packed the car with every thing for the weekend, all but Sara's ammo, so she sat for two days in a lawn chair reading a book.
He could teach a lot of shooters Humility. Never once heard a discouraging word from him or any form of complaint about anything before, after or during a match.
A true GENTLEMAN.
