Are you looking for a single shot or mag fed bolt action rifle?Yeah, I'm not really interested in BR, more f/class style shooting since the local range has only 200y it would be nice to get some practice in. I really don't want to go down the ammo buying/testing rabbit hole that BR requires to be competitive, but for long range rimfire ammo that shoots 1/2moa would suffice for wind practice.
Anschutz prices were already crazy high before the tariffsI know you can buy used and get good Anschutz rifles at fair prices, but I just happened to look at Champion's Choice a few days age and I was surprised. All new 54 based rifles were more expensive than any custom rifle I have. I guess that means what I have is worth quite a bit more than I thought or tariffs have gotten to them.
I used to keep up with them until I figured our they ae sub-par even at the prices I was used to. I guess this is the first time I've looked at Anschutz prices in more than five years. What I don't understand is why used Anschutz only partially follows new prices. It's like saying "hey, I think I'll toss a couple of grand in the garbage."Anschutz prices were already crazy high before the tariffs
Don't know. What I do know is Anschutz produces some of the most accurate production sporter rifles with the best factory triggers there is. However, I certainly won't disagree about today's pricing. I'm just glad I got all mine secondhand for very reasonable pricesI used to keep up with them until I figured our they ae sub-par even at the prices I was used to. That's unusual.Prices are only going to go way up very soon!
Either would be fine, but preference to a single shot. Are you looking for a single shot or mag fed bolt action rifle?
Production yes. If I'm buying new I can beat price and quality with custom. Lots of people talk about taper lapping on custom rifles. I wonder if they ever slug their new Anschutz barrels or taper lap them after purchase.. Not all, but a lot will allow the slug to basically rattle down the bore until it hits that last two-three inches where the knot is. It tightens up there and they may even slug that portion. Either way, they produce acceptable accuracy and better than most people have ever seen. So wow it's great! But it's not custom and generally won't perform that way. Trigger is great, action is well made, stock good. Barrel on consumer rifles generally not that good.Don't know. Don't really have a limit, but somewhere between a $750 40x and less than a $1500 2500 action. What’s your budget?
In reality, Anschutz is no longer first or even second on the prone / 3-p world stage. They have been passed by Walther and Bleiker many years ago.Production yes. So how do they win world class matches. Stock cars are not stock and I bet you can't take one off the line in your new Chevy Camaro even though the body looks about the same.
Not saying they're bad, just overpriced.
