Difference between wipe-out tactical advantage and patch out?

I just tried some tactical advantage. Found it no more or less effective than wipeout. But, it has a cool looking bottle and it says TACTICAL on the label. I am going to now try some Shooters Choice amonia based cleaner in the same barrel to see if its truely clean of CU and C

Keep us updated I'm interested. So tactical advantage = wipeout.

The best stuff I've used was Montana Xtreme copper killer. I think Alex Wheeler recommended it to me and it works really well, but the smell is stronger than anything I've used. They don't make "copper killer" anymore. I think it might have been renamed "copper killer 50 bmg special formula". I'm not sure though.

Well I used some Barnes solvent last night on a 6mm barrel I had cleaned with Tactical wipe out to see if there was any residual copper. There wasn't. The Barnes is a ammonia product.

Wipeout and accelerator work together and form into a foam. I have a bore scope and I am pleased with the results. Here is a summary of this video.

I almost always let it soak 12 to 24 hrs cuz I can.

I do this but usually 2 patches acc to start instead of 1. I don't do step three every time. Just depends how many rounds I fired.

So you don't use an oversized brush for cleaning like others have suggested and still get good results (aside from using a larger brush for carbon ring)?

Is there usually any carbon left in the barrel after cleaning? I see you use iosso as needed. It would be nice not to use iosso at all.

I just called Sharpshootr products and the man on the phone said tactical advantage can be used with accelerator, and to use 3 parts tactical advantage (or patch out), to 1 part accelerator. In his words, 3 drops of tactical advantage or patch out to 1 drop of accelerator. I think he was saying to apply both at the same time to your cleaning brush and not use them in a sequence. Maybe I miss heard him about that.

I would never put an oversized iosso brush down the bore. Have you tried the blue IOSSO brushes? When they are new OMG i have wondered if its gonna break off in the bore, and they last a long time.

I don't think its rocket science. As long as they foam up the results will be good.

Watch the interviews by erik cortina with the top shooters in the world. All the ones I can think of who he has asked use abrasives. Just don't get too crazy with them.

I think it was jack neary who said yes, abrasives might shorten barrel life, but we aren't interested in that last part of barrel life. They are not going to sacrifice .0000001 inch on target now to get a couple more rounds later.

I also think many other methods and products work. I just think its easy and doesn't smell too bad. Those ammonia based ones are horrible to breath.

A person can control the level of clean but it’s not as simple to control the level of dirty, the target may say the barrel is shootable but there is a point where accuracy will drop off, the trick is to know when.
Solvents IME only do a half ass job of cleaning and sooner or later you’ll need to use something more aggressive to get all the built up carbon out.
Short range guys normally clean after every relay and may not see a lot of build up but other disciplines go all day or all weekend adding several cycles on a cleaning.
Donovan use to say that the only thing expensive about a bore scope is not having one.
Clean is clean.

IIRC Walt Berger ALWAYS used abrasives.
Concerning abrasives...
If you use the abrasive only enough to remove the carbon and stop scrubbing, you shouldn't have an issue with barrel life.

Honestly though, I've never seen any research related to abrasive bore cleaners. Mostly anecdotes.

I'm thinking now that it's best to use abrasives only when you have trouble getting the rod down the bore. Then maybe do 10 strokes with abrasive and try a patch. If it goes down smooth, no more abrasive is needed.

This stuff's ammonia content is way more than what you typically encounter. The smell is 'invigorating', to say the least. It'll make roadkill get up and run away.
