I had the same experience with Matt6BR. I purchased the following: Sierra 1330 bullets. $75 for the bullets plus $10 for shipping. Total is $85
USPO money order. Matthew Sartheim, 14620 madris ave, Norwalk CA 90650

Two of the boxes were a different bullet. Emailed and he said he would replace them with 2 boxes of Hornadays. Never got the replacement. The money wasn't so big but I don't think a guy should try and cheat you on this site.

I think this outed him

After reading all the aboves and looking at his trades... 15 of 16 positive....the only thing that sort of sticks out is 16 transactions (all selling) in 3 months as a member. I don't see that as a red flag, just something I may have noted. I am afraid to say it probably would not have stopped me from buying. I might have thought it was another member who used the site for the free classifieds, but then he is a site contributor which would have made me likely to buy.
From his responses it does seem that this will be resolved for the buyer.
Really a shame....I have had nothing but good experiences buying and selling on this site, and meeting some really nice folks.

With a Postal MO, I would have turned it over to the Postal Inspector for mail fraud and pursued it to conclusion.

In theory, thats a good plan.
When I inquired about this once at my local post office, I was told that a claim like that would be very low priority, because they had much bigger fish to fry.

I lost 50.00 and they never got back to me either. They just don't care.

That is important information to know about the USPO. I need to find another option that does care. Anyone used a bank cashiers check and had trouble collecting or pursuing a fraudulent transaction?

I bought $120 worth of 6mm 55gr Nosler projectiles from this Matt6BR and had excellent service from him.
Good communication, Fast shipping, well packaged, Tracking # and all. Go Figure.

If we go back a few months ago when Matt first listed these huge amounts of bullets for sale, a few of the members put up questions as to whether it was a good idea to do business with him. A few replies said give him a chance, I personally was going to purchase a bunch of .224's for woodchuck hunting, but decided to wait a bit and see how others fared with him, glad I held off, I work too hard for my money to be able to just write it off. Matt may come to regret the way he has handled this, there is a saying about "kiss a thousand women, screw just one .........

The Armslist site is rampant with scammers. Sorry to hear of your .loss. On two dealings that I attempted, I required that purchase and shipping and payment would be thru a FFL only to my FFL.
Man, you should have heard the excuses why that was not possible. One seller said they did not know what or who a FFL was, just send them the money and they would ship to my FFL. Even the English was a little questionable. On another occasion which was legit. The seller said even tho the rifle was priced a little over market, what difference did that make since I probably had plenty of money since I was interested in a $1200. Rifle I should just pay what he was asking. ..........He was a college student and someone's son, that apparently had little if any parental guidance or advice as to the ways of the world.

Without using a credit card or paypal you're going to have a hard time finding a method that does care that the right product wasn't delivered. The fees PayPal charges cover situations like this. I will not use a USPS money order. Do you know what happens when that $750 money gets "lost" in the mail? You eat the money for at least a year and you're at the mercy of the post office, who already has your money, to actually follow through and do something. At least if a personal check disappears it can just be cancelled and if it's stolen and someone else deposits/cashes it your bank will cover you.

LMAO!!!!!

As a retired Police Ofc. I've dealt with the Postal Inspectors many times....many wasted times, just another agency that RARELY does their job.
I never ask for them when I sell anything or buy anything when the sellers wants one....if you seriously think your protected because you sent one you really need a wake up call.

The responses have been a real education for me. I'm going to be much more careful in the future.
Thanks to all who have contributed.

If you are expecting any help from a US Postal Inspector,
good luck, its not going to happen. I recently had 4 purchases
made on stolen US Government CC info. Total of over $6,000.00
2,000.00 of that was on a Postal workers card. They got a 1,200.00
package back for me. The 800.00 package I finally got back on my own.
The rest I just lost and the sad thing they put no one in jail.

I wonder how big the fish is they are frying, they were apparently to
busy to help on my other losses. IMHO the inspectors are people on a payroll
that are accountable to no one, so they could give a Rats A$$ less about
anyones loss. Just my take on the issue. LDS

About 6yrs ago I bought a lathe bed and other parts off fleabay that was described by the seller as being "original and 98% new condition". Even talked on the phone with the seller who said "I use my real name on Ebay as I have nothing to hide and he had 100% good feedback! I then bought the lathe bed from his auction listing, a "new" lead screw and a "new" saddle that were listed and another "new" piece that he hadn't listed yet. He had multiples of some items he bought on a pallet at some business liquidation auction northeast of Minneapolis. Prices were good and I ended up sending him a Postal Money Order for $400. Items arrived well packed and good condition, freight was $80. Soon as I tore my lathe apart to start the rebuild I noted the area where headstock casting bolted on looked different so started measuring. Lathe bed and been altered to use as some form of jig setup for whatever? All 4 pieces were useless as they were. Saddle gib and been completely machined off so cross slide would not and could not be attached, lead screw was not from a Craftsman lathe but was the correct diameter and longer, mitre gear for power cross feed had been altered so it would not function off the leade screw and bed had been remachined so headstock casting would not attach like designed.

I know a long story but seller refused a full refund and offered 1/2 back if I paid the freight to return which would have been another $80. So most I 'might' have gotten back was a couple hundred if I was lucky. His word wasn't good when he told me condition etc so doubted it would be for a refund. Ebay would did nothing except limited his buying/selling for 60 days. He had listed the 2nd lathe bed and I was able to contact that buyer before deal was done and he did get most of his money back. I filed a dispute with fleabay and jumped through their hoops. Seller finally admitted in our email exchanges through fleabay that he "did not know the parts had been altered" so was selling them just like he bought them and I should have known what I was buying. Guess that means I should have torn my lathe apart and compared pics even though his pics were not displayed to where any of the alterations would have been very difficult to compare.

Postmaster here gave me a number in IN or OH to speak with their attorneys about getting my money back. The nice pleasant lady at their 'legal' headquarters told me flat out that there was nothing they could or would do despite my using their services to deliver their money order. Was a sickening feeling because I live off a very limited income and had sold some things to get the money for those parts to make my old lathe useable to me again. $400+ was hard to swallow and probably worse was absolutely NO help from fleabay and the Postal Service. All either of them bastuds want is your money!!!!!!

Sorry for the long ramble but reading all the comments about how good and secure a PMO is to protect yourself and your money is BS big time!!!! If they weren't willing to help me with $400 they sure don't care about anything less than that. Quit selling on fleabay after that and sent them a quite descriptive email which didn't even get a response. Pretty sad how our system almost caters to crooks, thieves and liars.

Now I need to get my BP down after reliving my screwing.lol
