Cz 457 mtr eley match, center x, sk pistol match, sk rifle match

Ok figured i would post up some pics of the rifle again. Going to test a new case of sk std + next week see how it shoots, also going to test out a new ftr style bipod on the rifle see how that does. Hopefully i can get my setup perfected to clean some ARA targets. It is much easier shooting groups than moving the rifle to set up a new shot each time! This 22 rimfire shooting is a challenge and blast.Screenshot_20210611-132711_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20210611-133924_Gallery.jpg

I’ve been told that a bipod is what all the top factory shooters use, but I’m not changing my setup. Your wood looks great. Mine is just so so. I have 3 wins in a row now. I don’t know why but I just got a VPT, I was able to find the 24” version, now discontinued.

Took out the 457 this morning shot prone finally to get off the wobbly benches and tested the carbon bipod. Starting to get the hang of this 22 ARA target shooting. rifle is shooting sweet with sk and lapua ammo20210629_071707.jpg

Nice shooting here!
I just got an MTR and thought I'd contribute. New to bench and this is my best so far on the target below running Eley Club. It seems like this rifle shoots a variety of ammo pretty well.
Never mind the chicken scratch on the target I didnt shoot in any particular order. I was just getting use to the format moving from 1 target to the other.

50 yd - 3 shots in each target
Bald Eagle front rest
Protektor bag rear
Eley Club

I didnt know this rifle had a cast in the stock until I started letting it free ride the bags.

Looking good mine has shot pretty much moa and under with everything at 50. Had issues with eley match so i am sticking with cci sv, sk , lapua good luck with your rifle

my CZ 457 MTR had no special fondness for ELEY TENEX, didn't chamber smoothly either .. (nor did my Annie 1416AV) .. have not as yet tried Lapua or SK, but in the meantime I settle for casual day at range with generic 40 gr whatever .. ELEY just don't impress me much, but mebbe just luck of the draw,,, 22 rimfires are weird that way

Not understanding how in a bolt rifle you get junk in the action and around the bolt face.
I guess thats just how much lube is all over the eley match ammo i have. So much so 20 to 30 rounds in i was palming the bolt closed pretty hard. Moved on from it and shoot sk ,lapua cci sv can shoot a whole brick and the bolt has no where near anything close to that mess from eley.

I went through 2 bricks of club and had nothing close that looked like the goop shown in post #10. What Eley ammo was shot through this?
Eley match black box 2021 production. It shot very well just cleaned the bolt off every 5 rounds. 30 rounds fired no cleaning i had to palm the bolt closed.

My best guess is you have a lot that isn't friendly with your chamber and it isn't a lube issue at all. I had a #1 machine lot that was hard to chamber.

Chambers smooth as butter for around 15 shots . Then starts getting harder and harder. Around 20 to 30 i have to palm the bolt closed hard. If i wipe bolt face off everything works like a champ again. For another 20 or so. There is literally about .010 thick of compacted lube smashed and smeared on the bolt face. This lot of eley is .003 shorter on headspace and engraves bullets less than cci sv and sk lapua centerx . Its definitely a lube issue i wont shoot it anymore. I moved on from it to sk and lapua for match ammo. It shoots just as good as eley match and i can shoot bricks with minimal lube build up on the bolt face, fireing pin face and the chamber breech. Like as in a brick of sk std plus has 90 percent less gunk on bolt than 5 rounds fired of eley match from the lot i have on hand.

Just shot a 22 match today cz 457 mtr sk std plus. Pretty dang windy. Mirage was bad, ARA factory targets averaged 2287.5 starting to get the hang of this rimfire shooting. 11 shooters on the line.20210708_151034.jpg20210708_121559.jpg20210708_131810.jpg

good shooting!
I just got into this and I've been getting quite a few shots in the upper right quadrant like 2 of your sighters, #16, 21 and 22 and I cant yet figure out if its wind or something I'm doing on my end.

I suspected it might be caused when I let the rifle free ride the bags and it was the cast in the stock. I havent figured it out yet.

I also need more practice moving the rifle from one target to the next on the sheet.

Nice work!
