Cz 457 mtr eley match, center x, sk pistol match, sk rifle match

I have a new MTR that I haven’t shot yet. If it shoots as well as my 452 American I will be thrilled. I have all of the ammo types to try, but I’m going to put a few hundred rounds of CCI or Blazer through it first. If it shoots Eley Match as well as the OP’s rifle that would be fantastic. My other CZ’s tend to prefer Lapua and SK Ammo.
New targets shot today center x and sk pistol match shot great. Plus i ran 200 rounds with minimal lube build up. Sk and lapua is going to be my go to

Update from this morning test lapua center x sk pistol match way cleaner on the bolt face and breech. Plus they both shot awesome. Shot some groups , then i shot 2 factory ARA targets with each ammo. First time shooting either ammo. Sk pistol match average 2287.5 lapua center x average 2300 20210518_110716.jpg20210518_111636.jpg

Hey, Good, it looks like this will get interesting. I just received a CZ 457 MTR the other day and have now mounted the optic I want to try out:

Here's some of the .22 ammunition I want to try in this rifle to see which brand/type it will adore most:

My MTR has been very successful with regular CCI SV, as well. But you will definitely have to lot check it. Found out this past weekend that it hates Federal GMM SV. Kept throwing 2 of 5 from the group. Had quite a few “zingers” (Extra velocity, high impacts) during our little club match that cost me quite a few points too.

I don’t shoot with anyone else that has an MTR, but since many here have one:
Do you notice that the bolt has a hard camover when closing? Mine really locks up tight against the breach face. Quite noticeable disturbance to sight picture. This is with an empty chamber as well.

Mine only had a hard time with eley i was shooting after 30 rounds my bolt was very hard to close from all the build up. Mine shoots the lots of cci sv i have around moa at 50 but for some reason it shot 3 groups back to back at 100 yards under moa

Yup, that Eley grease. Going back to shooting 25yd indoor in Birmingham (UK, that is), the usual method of keeping ones new BSA International Mk2 clean, was to wipe off excessive lube before starting. Sitting around the range, wiping and transferring the ammo to a drilled wood block, waiting your turn to shoot. The older members, shooting BSA 12/15's didn't bother. The build up of grease over many years replacing the worn steel in the throat area, rammed hard by the 10 tons of gradual pressure from the rising block. Tenex was the "club" ammo. I didn't know any other brand existed at the time and was quite surprised to find shooters using RWS at a competition! There was much discussion on what Eley's grease actually was. Some believed it to be lard, a supposed tradition to annoy General Gordon's "fuzzy-wuzzies" in the Sudan or was it a rumour to cause mutiny amongst Indian troops? I forget. Others thought it a by-product of Morris Minor manufacture from the nearby Longbridge plant.

Either way, if you stored the ammo long enough, it became Tenex-White Tip, the notorious oxidised, matt finish, only suitable to be palmed off to pistol shooters to make excessive noise with their single shot Webleys on Tuesdays or anyone daring to bring one of those new-fangled German bolt-actions to the range.

That must go back to the late fifties and early sixties.

When Eley introduced Tenex in 1951 it must have had the usual "greasy" lube that characterized "target" .22LR ammo. The beeswax tallow lubricant used today was introduced in about 2001.

Go with the early 60's. I ain't that old...1963 I won the Club Junior Shield, shot at the 50yd Kynoch Range, behind the Eley factory. With an Anschutz Match 54.

Whats the lot number of the sk your shooting is it current ammo?
Actually I used 2 different lots. The first target was with the last of a brick that I had for a while and the second was with a new brick I just opened. 02456/20381

O2456 shot pretty well in mine averaged in the high .3 range for 8 groups of 5 shots. Have a case of some new sk plus i need to test

So far my MTR will shoot under MOA with most match Ammo even comes close with CCI SV at 50 yards. I should be happy with that, but I was hoping for more. I need to try a scope with a different reticle. The Bushnell Match Pro that I have on it is good for shooting steel, but the center dot is huge and doesn’t work that well for bench shooting.44FDE099-EF3E-46B4-A230-07F0F5757A40.jpeg

Mine seems to shoot everything so far at moa or better at 50 yards. Shot 3 groups at 100 yards back to back under 1 inch with cci sv. I think it and sk std plus are best bang for the buck
