Tap Magic Xtra thick cuts down on friction to the point to where I can not feel the reamer cutting, takes some getting used to due to thickness, but it is a space age cutting fluid intended for hard to machine metals. No doubt that the reamers will last longer with this stuff.

Zero has a promotion on the Tap Magic Xtra thick for $59 per gallon DELIVERED right now. This stuff is so thick it will stay on a barrel tenon at 300 rpm's, you use less because it does not run off the part, part stays lubricated.

I will try some Mobil Met 766 just for grins, never quit learning........

The tap Magic sounds interesting. Being that thick, is it harder to clear chips from the chamber and reamer?

I'm going to give some anchor lube a try on the next barrel. I've been using it for drilling and some maching so far it works very well. And it don't smell👃

NO! It is not worth ten cents a gallon. That stuff is the nastiest, messiest stuff ever made. Wear coveralls if you try it, and put any papers or prints in plastic bags.
