We really ought to at least try to maintain a passing connection to Covid-19 in our comments.
I concur with the notion... but Covid and politics are, and likely will remain, intimately intertwined...

But the spread is still basically out of control there. Why is that?
Starting today the city of Ames mask mandate goes into effect. Things aren't getting any better.
A virus, like the weather, cannot be "controlled". Give it up. (If you're being sarcastic, you need to so indicate.)Their Republican legislature then. Leadership vacuum from them. About as useless as puke in a space helmet. Apparently they aren't doing squat to try and get things under control.
The politics of Covid-19 response are fair game, it would seem obvious by now.I concur with the notion... but Covid and politics are, and likely will remain, intimately intertwined...
Hi JD, my county has 180,000 folks and 336 deaths. One healthy 49 year old farm boy three houses down from me. The shark is in my neighborhood. But I’ll still shoot with you if you let me wear my mask. MikeAnd here we are in Oregon with our train wreck of a governor. -- State population of over 4,200,000, and 635 deaths. Just expanded mask requirements.
My county with 70,000 folks, and 3 deaths. Give me a break. I fear a shark attack more than the Covid. jd
My birth county, Nez Perce County, has had 24 deaths with only 40,400 population. But, half of them died in March in a single nursing home with the same owners as the infamous facility in Kirkland, WA.Hi JD, my county has 180,000 folks and 336 deaths. Maybe we'll all get lucky and Wisconsin will return to sanity by getting rid of those incompetent and divisive leftists.IIRC the Wisconsin Supreme Court pretty much threw out the Governor's ability to to institute any stay at home or other measures.

Iowa has a Republican Governor and despite her orders we're still a hotspot.
They do control the Senate and the Assembly with apparently not a clue as to what to do. I guess just go with the flow. Unless a Super Majority is required it would seem that their hands aren't tied.Good question. Mask mandate has been in place since August 28. The surge here has largely taken off after it went into effect. Bars and restaurants are limited to 25 percent capacity. A challenge to that order was struck down. I'm not sure why you think state Republicans here are responsible when their hands are essentially tied by emergency orders.
Only the Governor is a Dem and yes I know that. The Legislature is Pub controlled. You wanna see Pub stupid go look up FocxConned! I've never voted for a leftist for a position of authority for over 50 years so you don't know WTF you are talking about. I'm a GDI and vote for whomever the F I want to and don't kiss any party's ass.Lets face it. You had no idea that it is a democratic party controlled state. I expect this kind of stupidity from a leftist so it is no surprise. Carry on in your ignorance son.
FWIW - and I recognize few here subscribe to it but the quality of its reporting really is exemplary - the FT is running a series of articles under the umbrella "COVID: could the world have been spared?" that are really well written and researched. Part 1, published yesterday, covers the very early phase of the pandemic and the reaction, sluggish at first, of Chinese authorities and the issues involved therein. Part 2, covers a range of paradoxes in data. Fascinating. Part 3, published today, covers the early days of the virus in Europe and all the various mistakes made and why. The articles so far are worth a month's subscription. https://www.ft.com/content/efdadd97-aef5-47f1-91de-fe02c41a470a
That's useful information. But if you're really troubled by Wisconsin legislators' failure to counter the governor's executive actions, I suggest you read the state's Consitution. It likely requires a supermajority, since any governor naturally has veto power over legislation crossing his desk. They do control the Senate and the Assembly with apparently not a clue as to what to do. I guess just go with the flow. Unless a Super Majority is required it would seem that their hands aren't tied.

"Republican lawmakers are also suing to end the governor’s statewide mask mandate, arguing as the Tavern League has done in this lawsuit that the order exceeded Evers’ authority. A judge last week upheld the mask mandate, saying the Legislature has the power to strike it down if it wants to."
Was actually a smart move. How about having patients lying on their stomachs instead of their back?
They have to. It's been killing or disabling far too many of them.Bravo scientists, doctors and nurses! At least someone is learning as time progresses.

Someone pointed out to me that GDI is an acronym for Gender Disoriented Individual. You should learn to express yourself using language. Acronym's are context dependent and can lead to gross misunderstanding. DYU?GDI means God Damn Independent. Surprised that you don't know that, but then again maybe not. BTW you were born lucky because you can KMA and I can't.
Gosh, I guess I was wrong. The virus will throw in the towel if faced with a master at the helm:A virus, like the weather, cannot be "controlled". Give it up.
