Almost as stupid as a state that relies on 21% of its electrical energy from intermittent sources that are non-generating in the dark?Countries with higher case count, when faced with a reluctance to lock down again, have turned to the next best alternative of mask wearing. Countries that aren't facing a high case count pressure are less, well, pressured to resort to such. So it's actually quite sensible (i.e. not at all unexpected) to see the difference in scale. What the graphic does suggest is that those with masks are seeing falling case count whereas those without are exhibiting no progress and in that regard the graphic serves its intended purpose and is completely valid. Now whether that progress is due to masks (which might at worst only help remind people of their civic responsibility to take the virus and social distancing seriously) or other factors cannot be determined from those facts alone.

Why not just make the Y axis 0-1000?
No mask: from 10->9 (at best) over the period. 10% improvement.
Mask: from 25 -> 16 over the period. 36% improvement.
That could easily be explained by any number of disparities between counties: Population density, demographics, social customs, etc.The subject of my comment was the rate value, not the change in rate. Interesting that though the mask rate has declined, it is still higher than for non-mask. I wonder why?

I'm sure you've seen our latest bumer sticker to pop up locally.I also believe that this virus is real. So is cancer, heart disease, Alzheimers, child abuse, psoriasis, erectile disfunction, heartbreak, and the loss of God.
I prefer to not live in fear of the virus, or any of those others, and it's easy because I haven't lost God.
This virus is going to be one of the many "Reapers" that take some of us out. It will be a tragedy for some, and a blessing for others.
I believe that sometime in the not too distant future, folks will look back and think, "My God, how stupid have we been?"

EDIT: I just did a search to find out more about plasma treatment only to find that the FDA has just now halted what was expected to be emergency approval for the treatment!!
Looks like your uncle Tony wants more data.I think I already did. Note that the scale wasn't changed - 2 percentage points per spacing on the left as well as on the right. They just brought the two lines alongside each other so that the comparison could be more easily made. That should have made it easier for folks to compare the trends (one declining and one flat).
One treatment option we haven't mentioned much here but which seems to be very helpful in getting people out of hospital faster is plasma treatment. There's been a big drive here, and I assume elsewhere, to get people who have recovered from COVID to donate blood from which plasma is extracted (with COVID antibodies?) and used to treat patients. Presumably, although this is just speculation on my part, it works much in the same way as 'Platelet-rich Plasma' (PRP) therapy a treatment I've considered in the past for joint/tendon injuries but with antibodies intact and doing the work. Another way in which Florida is benefiting from time and experience.
(BTW we are still under a countywide 10pm-6am curfew here, alongside the closing of bars and banning of indoor restaurant dining. Makes for a very subdued social life. However, since every man and his dog has bought a boat the marinas are packed. Matheson Hammock Marina, for example, closed full at 8.30am last Sunday!)

I heard the other day that the Covid has become our #3 cause of death.
I'd wager that a fair percentage, maybe majority of folks think that the virus is THE BIGGEST cause of death.
I don't sit around listening to the news all day, but I haven't heard this widely reported. jd
If you look at all the sub-categories that get bundled into "Heart Disease" and "Cancer" it likely is No 1.

Scroll down to Table 6 for example. Funnily enough, cancer and heart diseases tend to kill mostly over 55 year olds as well. (Probably why the US has a life expectancy of circa 79 years...)
