Re: Freedom of the Press

I think you are misunderstanding the original poster as he is glad judge pirro spoke out against the journal for posting her address.

Re: Freedom of the Press

There is a huge difference between freedom of the press and personal information. Should the news paper be able to list what valuables you have in your house? I think not. Journalism has become a big political joke in this country. God bless Judge Jeanine Pirro for taking a stand against those losers.

Good comment ;) But, where do we draw the line that separates personal from public? Where I live in the Peoples Republic of Ca, known sex offenders are listed, to include their actual address. Isn't that private information. When we use our cell phones, God only knows who else is listening. How about when using our computer? Virtually everyone on earth has access to that, if you know how to access it :D. I believe it's more a matter of what is acceptable, rather than what is right, wrong, legal or illegal.

You know, they can make laws against "this or that" even make it illegal to breath or anything else "they " want to do.......if enough people decide they don't CARE what laws they pass, and it will NOT be obeyed........it won't do them any good to pass it. Try to enforce it.......and let's just see what happens.

In a way, I hope they do pass all this crap they are yakin about. Try coming to get mine and let's just see if I will give them to them. I'm still healthy enough to put up a decent fight. Too many more years and I won't be able to anymore. I would rather have this fight right now than for my kids and grandkids to have the fight or loose their freedom. Call my "bluff"..........let's see if it's really a bluff or not.

I'm more than willing to pay the price for their freedom!

I think there's plenty of others that feel the same way.

So bring on your damn laws and come and get my guns........if you think you can. Let's get this done and over with. All I can say to those politicians and those that are like minded..........Screw you and your laws.

I see what you're saying, but Information provided by law abiding citizens to the government should be protected by the privacy act.

They are not "known" sex offenders, they are convicted sex offenders. And, with the recidivism rate among their ilk, it is prudent to make their whereabouts public. There is an easy way to avoid being identified as a convicted sex offender; don't commit sex crimes. [br]
The permit holders whose names and addresses were published committed no crime. Just the opposite. They passed a lengthy, intrusive and deliberately obstructive process to get the permit.

Well it's here now, passed while I was at the Capitol yesterday, not much the hand full of us could do it was all behind closed doors....at least the Rep. I was there in support of and give my $.02 for not passing this crap did vote Nea. I didn't see/hear anyone from the NRA, which is why I was there, to support the Competitive Shooters that will be effected.

http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/api/1.0/html/bill/S2230-2013

It's not just the Banning of our beloved "Black" rifles, mags that can hold more than 7 rounds, they have included Licensing all firearms with a 5 year License Renewal, Federal NICS Check on any firearm "exchange" other than family, ammo sales Licensing and tracking with Background check prior to purchase, no online ammo sales to the State unless it is shipped to a Licensed Ammo Dealer.

We need to be careful

I hope this fight by the NRA doesn't blow-up in our faces. I sent an email last week to the Rep in my district, Darrell Issa (A rating by the NRA) asking him how they plan to distinguish people with mental disorders to keep them from buying guns. If no new legislation is agreed upon, a MMPI might become mandatory for present and future gun owners. In the industry in which I work, we have to go through the MMPI once a year to re-qualify for our Red Badge (security clearance). It's a PITA. We better be careful what we ask for. We just might get it!

Re: We need to be careful

Yeah, and where is the line drawn?

If someone seeks council during a divorce, or the loss of a loved one due to death beit natural or accident,,
Or an ADD/ADHD diagnosis as a youth that's a rampant in our schools,,

It reeks of breaking Doctor/Patient privacy standards,, and what Government Agency would determine when someone crosses the line,??
When would a person be well enough? Or will a mis-diagnosis black list a person for a lifetime?

Would someone with a Downs child in their home be on the list of in-capable of owning a firearm?

Re: We need to be careful

At this stage of the debate, I tend to agree with this Gentleman's solution to protect our school children. As for shopping malls and other public places, CC may be our best defense.

That the MMPI you refer to?

You can take it to the bank that the current politico-media circus is hell-bent on re-writing the rules we've lived by up until now. With the ACA increasingly intruding into our daily lives whatever expectations of Doctor/Patient confidentiality one still has deserves to be seriously questioned.

Check out the 'proposed new diagnoses' category in the forthcoming DSM-5:

- for some hints about what to expect.

If you think the last 19 years were tough (since the first AWB) it'll look good in hindsight by this summer.

WOW >:(

That is so sad and disappointing. I was born and raised there, but am happy to no longer live there. The most damaging part is the quotes from the Heller case handed down by the SCOTUS. By using it, State law does not conflict with Federal law :o And I thought we had it bad here in Ca!

Re: We need to be careful

That is the one spclark. They are reviewed by a licensed psychologist. He/she has the final word. Due to the nature of an independent psychologist, the doctor-patient relationship does not apply.

These are unedited satellite feeds of some the “witnesses” from Sandy Hook (the first guy is a “parent” of one of the children). The satellite feeds from the camera crews can be hijacked by people with satellites. This shows the moments before and after the networks cut away… the first thirty seconds of the video show it all really…

There is no way that law will stand. How can you require a lisence to exercise a constitutional right?
Not an argument, but all 9 Justices concluded: "the States retain the right to reasonable legislation". The State of NY is NOT banning guns. They're making it unbearable to buy and own them. Where I live, here in the Peoples Republic Of Ca, we are extremely fortunate to have Calguns fighting for our rights on a daily basis. The NRA hasn't done much for us here even though we pour enormous amounts of money into their pockets.

Unfortunately, people are going to die. Its a fact of life and a product of our society. Have they forgotten about 9/11 and the thousands that died at the hands of terrorists AND airplanes? Or how about Timothy McVeigh and his big bomb made with readily available materials? Or how about the mass suicides at various religious cults? Or how about the huge numbers of people killed by drunk drivers?
The number of people killed by firearms pales in comparison.

People seem to forget that the 2nd amendment does not permit anything,IT FORBIDS THE GOVERNMENT from infringing on our rights. It is the shortest and most clear part of the Bill of Rights. Tom
