The media coverage encourages crazy people to act out like this. This video is very enlightening.

Folks today one of those things happened that most if not all of us will never be able to explain or deal with. I spent 30 years in the Marine Corps, I have seen things that will make your blood boil, but never once have I ever even heard of such an act as was commited today.

I started this the second thread on this subject for those lost today. Now is not the time or the place to "Politicize" this horrible event. Right now we all would be best served ( I think) by praying for those babies lost today, as well as the staff of that school. Maybe later we can delve into the why and what if's of this tradegy and to what the ramifications will be. For now my heart just bleeds for these folks.

God Speed Kids!!!! Your loss will be felt for decades.

I live less than 20 minutes from the site of this evil act,and could hear the sirens on I84w for a good part of the day. CSP,ambulances and over head the Helicopters, both medical and police and knew something was up. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that this had occured.Satan had visited Newtown.
It is being reported that all three guns used were legally bought and registered to the shooters mother, unfortunately she was his first victim. Then on to the school where she worked and forced his way in and proceeded to execute 20 babies and six adults then himself.
Why? We will never know the answer to that question, we can only guess or speculate. My guess is he had a plan he wanted his moment of fame.
Absolute gun control is the" knee jerk" response from many many people and honestly who can really blame them. Even though we as responsible gun owners know that will never happen or work for that matter,is the answer is more parental guidence while raising our children, we need to some how get back to family and life values, love and disipline our kids like we were growing up. Maybe religon and God back in our hearts and homes, paying attention to our childrens mental as well as physical health.
I don't know the answers but go know that Evil did come to my state yesterday, very close to home, and since I heard what happened my prayers have gone to those 20 babies and their teachers and to all the families of those who lost their lives.Let us all pray for them and then worry about the coming onslaught fro the antis.

Sorry for the rant but this was way to close for comfort for anyone.

Molon labe has been repeated by many generals and politicians in order to express an army's or nation's determination not to surrender. The motto ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ is on the emblem of the Greek First Army Corps,[4] and is also the motto of United States Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT).[5] The expression "Come and take it" was a slogan in the Texas Revolution.

Molon labe has been used once again in Greek history, on 3 March 1957 during a battle in Cyprus between members of the EOKA organization, and the British Army.

The very worst reaction to acts of terror -is fear
As well, the worst reaction to mass murder -is fear
While terrorism and mass murder are completely different, the common and causing reaction -is fear
suffering = blame = anger = fear = suffering

Media spin, and our reactions here, serve only to perpetuate

Relative to the post by Kyle76092, with all rights come responsibilities, i.e. believe in the 2nd amendment but don't hide behind it. We all have a responsibility to store our guns in a secure manner. Same goes with the first amendment. The entertainment industry floods us with movies, TV shows and video games that are nothing more than gratuitous violence, pure and simple and then hide behind their first amendment rights. Shame on them and also us, if we have the ability to help with this situation and then do nothing. If you are not part of the solution, you are, unfortunately, part of the problem.

It has been reported that the shooter was autistic or more likely afflicted with Aspergers Syndrome. It is also possible that the shooter in Aurora, Colorado had many signs of Aspergers. See the explanation at the link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome

Rather than blaming this on guns our society would be well served to look at the real causes of these horrific events. People with this affliction would not find it hard to plan and carry out far more devastating attacks if guns were not available.

My son has Autism/Aspbergers and does not have a violent bone in his body. Profiling people with this disorder is as wrong as profiling gun owners or any other group. I do believe the video game scene has a lot to do with this, they are pretty graphic.

That's really sad.Thought and prayers to the victims and family's. Kinda makes ya hold you own children or grandchildren a little closer! Lightman

This happened last night at the Excalibur Hotel. I'm a musician in the show
the Tournament Of Kings. Before our second show at 8:30 a fellow employee
said there had been a shooting upstairs and one person was dead.

As the show progressed, news was that two people had been shot. No identity
of either person.

When the show concluded there was an abrupt annoucement to the crowd:
"Please remain seated. Security will show you out".

Kind of surreal after what just transpired earlier in the day in Connecticut.

Good morning folks. I've been lurking on this board for some time now, reading very informative articles. Great board you have here. Following this tragedy, I felt compeled to sign up if merely to send codolences and prayers to the families and victims from your Canadian friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

What a sad day. My heart goes out to those parents who lost children, even to those whose children survived. They will never be the same.

My editorial here, just an opinion: As a society we have allowed the family unit to disintegrate. We subsidize/encourage single parenthood. Our PC police don't want us to keep scores in sporting events our kids play so they don't have to deal with disappointment! A child's self-esteem is not to be demeaned in any way.

So how are these individuals to learn to deal with life's problems. They have been sheltered from all the problems and disappointments in life. Their parent(s) have made sure that they don't have to deal with any of that.

Social medial now ensures that children and young adults don't have conversations anymore. They just text and use acronyms to communicate LOL, OMG, etc. Interacting on a personal level has been on the decline for some time. Dealing with disappointment/failure has been minimized.

So a young mind, not fully developed, with some issues and probably overly sheltered, does the unthinkable. We are surprised and shocked?

What did this young man do in his spare time. At 20 yeas old, did he go to school? Did he have a job? Did he just hang around the house and play X-Box?

How did he get access to tactical gear, a vest, and the weapons? No one paid attention to what he purchased or how the guns were secured in the home?

As the information continues to unfold, there will be many issues that come to light. I am sure that there were many warning signs that this young man should not have been given access to any kind of weapon. Unfortunately, the parent that shared responsibility for this tragedy also paid the ultimate price.

We will all remember this day when all these beautiful children died. God bless them all.

"The strikes by the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which have continued in Pakistan’s tribal areas since 2004 have intensified during the Obama era. In one of the major drone attacks more than 40 civilians and policemen were killed on March 18, 2011 in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan. In the past few months, these unmanned aircraft killed more than 100 people in North Waziristan.

As regards civilian casualties, on August 11, 2011 a report of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism said, “The Guardian published some of the pictures, we have obtained…as many as 168 children have been killed in drone strikes in Pakistan during the past seven years.” While rejecting the CIA’s false claim, the report disclosed, “It is a bleak view: more people killed than previously thought.”"

Real evil.
Why does it look like the ones crying the loudest for gun control and such are many times the same ones want the right to abort babies, and they do every day. Let the flag fly at half mast for these lives also. The only good thing about this is the children went straight into the Loving Arms of Our Great GOD. May HE supply their familys with all the Comfort they need at this time.

Well said Bob, There seems to be a common thread in this tragedy & the mass shootings at Aurora & other places. Mental illness. The Aurora shooter was under psychiatric care at the time of that tragedy. Unfortunately, there is no procedure in place to allow Law inforcement to react in a pro-active way in order to nip the perp's in the bud. Mental health professionals should have a hot line to law inforcement. I invite all members here to look into potential remedies for this obvious, proven commonality. It was during Reagans admin. that federally funded mental institutions were closed. No doubt we have many disturbed people roaming our streets. We need to urge our politicians to "think outside the box" rather than jump back on the "gun control" band wagon. It could benefit all of us, particularly, our young people. My .02

It will turn out to be a jealous jerk who couldnt let her go due to super bad mental problems. It is not a person with mild depression that does this,it is most likely a person with anti-social tendency's and after he threatened her the police likey said that their hands are tied by the law until he actually does something to her which always end's up being that she lose's her life and it is too late.So Sad. This is about the murder suicide in vega's.

Let me see if I understand this -- the Mideast or Europe someone with an agenda finds a mentally ill person who wants to take their own life, gives them a truck full of C-4 and sends them to the middle of town to blow it up and they call it a terror attack. In the USA people with an agenda find a mentally ill person who wants to take their own life, they give them a gun, a few mags of ammo and send them into a shopping mall or a school and its called a tragedy that could have been prevented if only we had gun control. Six months ago I told anyone that would listen for more than 5 sec. that as soon as "Bo" was re-elected the mass shootings would start again. Don't be surprised if there is another shooting before Christmas. There are only two forces in the world, Good & EVIL, we are fools to think that evil is playing by the Ten Commandments that the good people play by.

Are you for real? The worst reaction is comments as you and Nate Haler have expressed. What you need to demonstrate here is called compassion. My God man, has the NRA completely blinded you. 20 innocent little children were killed.

as someone that has been playing violent video games for about 20 years, i resent your attempt at profiling honest hardworking law abiding members of the video gaming community.
