First I use a squeeze bulb to remove as much dust as I can, followed by a very soft brush. Next I fold some lens tissue into a tight roll and tear the end off to so that I am not wiping with a single thickness of the tissue. Effectively this turns the tissue bundle into a very soft brush, to which I apply some lens cleaner, and a drop or two on the lens. The biggest problems are if there is some grease or oil on a lens from being inadvertently touched by a finger. for that I may use some isopropyl alcohol, sparingly, with a lens cleaning cloth, this after getting everything off of the lens with the previous steps, except the oil or film of grease. Luckily my scopes do not get dusty in my safe. I use a very fine furnace filter to remove allergens, and only open the safe when removing or returning a rifle. I have recently thought that I may make some caps to sit on the objective lenses of scopes that do not have caps, I will make these from the cardboard from the back of a tablet, Making them deep enough that they will stay in place as I handle a rifle in close to vertical position. After using a lens cleaning cloth, I wash and rinse it, before letting it dry and putting it away. None of my scopes have any wipe marks on their lenses.
