Is the one to the left of the road a buck? Matt

Yes, a little guy. Had 4 bucks and not sure how many does running circles around the new stand all morning. A couple glances was all they gave me, I think the snow blended that stand in and it has been there all summer. Nothing to shoot at worth dragging so bow tag has to wait until after rifle season. This is a good late area where the stand is, deep cover for bedding nearby and oaks for acorns.

Neighbors keep bumping something past me before light so I’m taking a break and getting some work done. Been living on ham sandwiches and getting pretty tired of sitting. Lol

Another 12 hr day in the stand. Snowed all day and what a great hunt! Wife’s going crazy so I must be having fun...

My county in Tennessee has just been tested positive for CWD with 7 deer. Last Thursday TWRA extended the deer season. Hysteria is spreading like wildfire here. A couple of weeks ago I bought a $200 meat grinder and yesterday I see Northern Tool has put their grinders on sale. CWD may cease my box stand building. I see that other states has adapted to CWD so I guess Tennesseee will too.

This is a case where the doctors kill the patients to cure them... I have a strong feeling about it and the way the conservation department spreads panic. They are pulling the same BS here and my area is probably getting included next year for testing. Which also includes selling more tags to thin the herd, what a waste.
For some unknown reason they feel that “finding it” means that they must act to fix something that is broken. Killing all the deer isn’t a cure

Screws, hinges, latches, Windows, a few 2x4s. I’m including the gallon of paint I used although it wasn’t purchesed for this project. The skids worked great I put a 6” lag bolts in them to hook a chain to and it pulls with the four wheeler like a dream.

I’m hunting some pretty tough conditions and it wouldn’t last long if I hadn’t planned ahead. The windows can freeze shut on your stand and render it useless.

Is that a cool picture or what?

Neighbor has been busy after hunting some cold Iowa weather. Says there is a company called deerview that makes windows. Looks like they have a good product line for building a stand.

I’ve been using white pine for studs, rafters and plates. Treated on any thing exposed to the weather. Mainly to keep the cost down.

Well, I am going to use Cloroplast corrugated plastic sheeting for my walls and maybe the roof. I guess I could get by with just using untreated white pine. Have plenty of 2x4's stored in a shed from years back that I got from Home Depot. I guess they are white pine.

The first one is kind of a experiment and then hindsight kicks in. Hold your tolerances close on windows and doors so they don’t cause you grief when you finish it out. Take every precaution to keep the wood dry and you’ll be happy with your project. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
