Bought a metal lathe finally....

Just very few pics lol, i have dozens. I wasn't planning on repainting it but ended up doing it anyway. Completely stripped and rebuild entire headstock, lower apron and grear box... just need to do more painting and dissasemble the upper apron. Still have lots to do.

Chrome dont get you home. I painted one now i make sure theyre at least acceptable before i buy. It sucks to get a new paint job dirty- make us some chips man!

Will do Dusty, just need to finish up the headstock, everything is painted and ready to be put in a box to start painting the gear box, and apron which i already rebuild but have to completely disassemble to paint. Then it onto rebuilding the upper apron and paint plus tail stock, going to try and repaing the bed aswell.... gunna be alittke while before i can completely reassemble everything on the bed and make some chips finally.... i just hope its an accurate machine after all this work lol.... i have alot of adjustments to make once it is completely together....

Finally got the apron, carridge and tailstock rebuilt. Basically finished except for a few bushings that need replaced. I do need to either fix or replace the compound, thats why its not painted.

Yes it has a threading dial, it has a 3ph 1hp motor, which i havent figured out how to make it run off 110 if thats even possible, if not i have a industrial grade 1hp motor that run on 110. And yes it has the old rotary speed control but it worked fine. And no it didnt have a steady rest, maybe its possible to make one? Guy got back to me and said he is gunna take the top playe off and check the gears and send me pics. Heck of a nice guy.
U can get a vfd that will drive a 3 ph motor drive will be 110 or 220 single ph input.

Finallly got a lathe, its a Delta Rockwell 11x36, machine seems to be in good condition. Comes with 3 and 4 jaw chucks. Also a drive plate and drive dogs. A few things need tightened up and lead screw may need replaced. It belonged to a gunsmith that passed away and his boys were selling it. Im just nervous cause parts are hard to find, but i seen alot of the parts can be made. View attachment 1160239
Another one of my wants but I don’t know if it will ever happen I want to learn but have no experience the machine is the first part but then so much in tooling I guess it’s just a pipe dream for me

I would love to rebuild a few things on my old Logan. That thing is awesome. There are a few places where the drive skips.

Rebuilding lathes is above my pay grade.

If I could find a brand new version of my old Logan I would buy that thing in a heartbeat.
