Yeah...alot of the shininess is not dependent on the lathe. Tooling, set up and type of metal determines the shininess of a cut. Type of metal being biggest, I think. Try threading some cheap cold rolled, lol.
This form die was made on my Grizzly...mine is an old Grizzly and I'm blown away with the accuracy and precision I'm getting out of it. For some reason, the new ones don't feel as smooth as mine.
Right off the machine...the die and lock ring...no abrasives...the steel was a piece of old barrel. Krieger I believe.
