There is no comparison between BAT and Savage, never has been and never will be. Workmanship, fit, smoothness, finish, tolerance, beauty and yes, unfortunately cost. I have never heard of someone upgrading by selling their BAT or any other custom action and getting a Savage. My first build was a Remington action, it shoots great and I like it a lot, but it doesn't compare to any of the BAT's I have.
Is Savage and Remington Junk, absolutely not. Both have great qualities, Remington’s are a great way to get into benchrest without the cost of a custom action, Savage is great for the guy that wants to do it yourself build. Both can be very very accurate.
In the end, I have found people that prefer or make excuses that top notch action makers are not any better than an off the shelf action simply don't want to spend the money in the first place. I have never once sat at a bench beside a Savage or Remington and looked at it as substandard, so please don't look at my BAT and say how much money I wasted.
