Best Kinetic Bullet Puller

I think you make a good point. I have a very old RCBS kenetic puller. I happen to have a 4X4 sitting in the room that's used for various situations. I've always used the end to tap agains't and I don't try to see how hard I can hit it. I did have to get replacement bands for it a few years back.
Concrete and plastic don't mix. The hits come from your wrist not a baseball bat swing.

No matter what brand of kenetic puller you use it will survive longer if you use a piece of hardwood to hit on. Wood has enough give to make the job easier as well.

my RCBS one broke after years of use, called them and it was replaced. that was some time ago. I to use a piece of foam inside to help save the bullet tip, and I hit the end of a 2x4 stringer on the bench. I use a o-ring to hold the collet together also.

They all break eventually. However, they are pretty cheap and not too hard on the wallet to replace.

Pro Tip: get rid of the 3 aluminum pieces that that hold the case and replace them with the appropriate shell holder. Much easier.
Yes, shell holder makes it a little easier. However, over the years there have been several reports that indicate that a shell holder was the culprit in the rare occurrence of a cartridge being detonated. At some point during the swinging the cartridge was able to shift and the primer was ignited when contacting the base of the shell holder. With the factory 3-piece holder, there is nothing behind the primer to potentially impact and cause ignition.

I’m on my second hammer, Franklin Armory, and I have no complaints. I also hammer into a hard piece of wood…a little bit of give results in less fracturing of the plastic nose.

My Franklin broke at the handle-shaft junction. Neither of the two that I have broke shattered the chamber part.

I have tried most and really see no difference among them. All have crappy holders (easier to just use the correct shellholder instead) but manage to do the job. After spending hours trying to pull 25-grain .17 Remington bullets with notably poor success. I switched to RCBS collet style pullers and never looked back. Kinetic work great for handgun cartridges with bullets of reasonable weight. That weight pops the bullet out with a lot less effort than the (mostly) lighter rifle bullets.
I have to agree with the kinetic pullers and light bullets. My Lyman orange hammer has worked great for years on .308 bullet weights, but 22-250 or 6mm varmint weight cartridges you have to beat the snot out of to save components. Fun at first, but gets old quick.

They seriously suck. Mine has not broken but pulling small light bullets is about impossible. The bullet does not have enough weight and momentum. 17 cal doesn't work at all. Then you hear about the round going off occasionally. Hornady puller in the press for me.

I don't see how that would be possible with a proper fitting shell holder. If that were actually the case, then there would be a risk of detonating the primer during the reloading process.

I know the OP wanted a kinetic puller, but they are so much more difficult to use than the Grip-n-pull, particularly if you have to pull a bunch of bullets.
Put down those hammers guys, and get a Grip n Pull.
GRIP-N-PULL
