How Many Kinetic Bullet Pullers Have You Broken?

There was nothing to strike the primer. The primer detonated(I feel like it was set off by the force of the blow) and blew out the back of the puller without, thankfully, igniting the powder. There was no primer left in the fully intact round that had been in the puller. Still the hammer body blew apart and came off the handle. It is a totally unexplainable coincidence and I hope to never have it happen again.
You should have ran out and bought a lottery ticket. That's wild, and you are lucky.

Zero. I’m glad I read this thread, probably will go a little easier now when I’m using it. I cut the cotton swabs off three Q-tips and jammed them down into the nose where the bullets hit, which seems to keep from damaging the meplats. It’s a Frankford or a Lyman probably.

I still have the one I bought in the mid 90's but all I use now is a collet puller.
No more bam bam hammer action and it has been relocated to the archaic section of forgotten relics of reloading tools I figured out there were better options.

I have had the same bullet puller for 30 years. I want to say that I have pulled at least 500 rounds with it. Finally went flying apart today. RIP. How sturdy have yours been?
i never broke one but im always thinking of an explosion that mite happen, never has so far but i have/use a collet puller (rcbs) now if i can. some bullets my collet puller wont grip. i do use a shell holder now if i use the kenetic. its much easier and holds better. my rcbs kinetic has the metal fingers held together with a metal spring and i have had some cases slip from it in operation.

Pretty much gave up on them.

My home brew method is a bit crude.

Remove die from press. Run loaded cartridge up on ram until bullet protrudes. Grab bullet above the ogive with electric wire strippers. Use downstroke of ram to withdraw case from bullet.

I then use the faintly deformed bullets as foulers.

Never broke one. The little rubber ring broke...replaced with the orthodonic rubber bands for braces. Haven't tried shell holders...yet.

Unless cartridge is newly loaded, I put in a machinist vise and gently push bullet back in slightly. Breaks the weld, if there is such a thing, and gives the bullet a micro running start when you whack the puller.

Ive broken a hand full... cheap sobs. I need a better way, but I dont want to mess up the bullet or brass at all... or put marks on the bullet...

How many got broken?

Go collet puller.
