Berger 308 200.20X Hybrid Target Availability?

Anyone have any information on the availability/production of Berger's 308 200.20X Hybrid Target bullets?

I purchased a couple hundred last month on bullets.com, but they're not available now and haven't been able to find them elsewhere. I chose to develop loads with them in my new rifle, and things are going very well so far. I now fear I've found a great shooting bullet that I won't be able to shoot for a while, and I don't want to have to start the development process with a different bullet, just because I can't get more of the 200.20X's now.

The last run hit the shelves in January. It may be a while. Most of us who shoot them stocked up for the season.

Thanks for the information XTR.

I was unable to buy more, because my gunsmith only finished my new rifle build a couple of weeks ago. I was just able to start load testing this weekend. I only bought a couple of hundred, because until I had initial load development testing indicating the 200.20X's would shoot well in my rifle, I didn't feel comfortable buying more than I needed for the development process.

Switching Lots of the same bullet is treated identically to reloading a completely different bullet for many of us. Buying in quantity minimizes the necessity of doing this very often. I've purchased small quantities like you did on many occasions in the past, for the exact same reason, and it has bitten me on more than a few of those occasions.

Yep, it's a pain to buy 500-1000 "just to try." But I reckon it's a cost of doing business and the best insurance against running out.

Fortunately, I've got some good shooting buddies always willing to horse trade for the odd bullet that won't shoot in a given rifle. Most good match bullets can be made to shoot with some tweaking of powder and OAL.

The way components have been running for the last few yrs I figure anything with which I am willing to try to load work I need to commit to at least 1000 so they are there if I like them. I'm not going to report my Berger inventory here, but it's substantial right now considering I have 200Hybrids, 200-20x, 215Hybrids and 90VLDs.

Ok, I almost purchased them at Precision Reloading, but I hesitated because they were pricey and had high shipping. Then, an additional search paid off - I found them at Graff & Sons. I called first and they confirmed they had them in stock. I bought 10 boxes of 100 (1000 rounds total) and paid $50.34/100 with $7.95 flat shipping.

In case you're also in the hunt for these bullets, here's the link to where I found them:

Below is a picture of my initial 3-shot group load development so far - 44.4 grains of Varget is sure showing promise!

Thanks everyone!

Glad you found what you needed. I checked Graf's when I was looking, they didn't show them in stock at the time. I thought Precision was high since they were hard to find.

When society collapses, we're all heading to Wade's house...he's got the good stuff ;).

Agreed, Jade. That's kinda like saying, "Wow, here's $150.00 in my wallet that I totally forgot I had" ;). Always a good day when it happens, though!

The 44.4 grain loads seemed to consistently show vertical stringing, but the 43.4 grain loads saved the day by consistently yielding 1/2 MOA or less 5 shot groups at 100 yards. I'm really looking forward to testing them during the next Midrange F Class FTR Match at the beginning of April.

Very happy with the Berger 200.20x's so far!!
