Bear creek bolt action AR

Not sure if that copper in there ( not sure why it would be ) or what.... I mean the whole upper was like $310 shipped so it's probably a $80 barrel so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular at all

First off thanks for all the pictures. They answer almost all of my questions. My last question is can you swap any bolt head into the bca carrier assembly? Or are you stuck with bca bolt heads? Thank you again for all the great pictures.

How's it shoot
So I always use factory ammo for the first round sin a new gun ...mainly so I can get fire formed brass...and if it blows it in my face I know it's not my reloading :D
Anyhow this is what I could find in town...not much but it's something

And our setup ended up taking of my magneto because it's messing up lately and I got a new one coming

Little tricky because my reticle covers up the dots at 100yd

But anyhow the results. Definitely likes the Hornady more then anything... I definitely tossed the low right shot because....well look at the rest , I actually shot two more just to see and it definitely wants to group...well group better then the rest at least lol

Ok so i just got the upper receiver without the barrel. The receiver is different from their standard side charging uppers in that it has a cutout for the bolt to rotate and lock. The bolt carrier has cutouts and tapped to hold the bolt handle in place. The carriers cam pin cutout is straight instead of angled so that the carrier does not rotate on chambering, giving you that manual rotate to lock. The cam pin appears standard. The bolt itself appears standard minus the sealing washers. The firing pin appears standard. They added spring at the end of the bolt itself to keep the bolt in the forward unlocked state. There’s also a new nut to close the charging handle cutout.

I just swapped my standard ar bolt in 224v/6.8spc into the carrier without problem. Even with the sealing washers on the bolt fit fine and still operated fine. Haven’t shot it yet. The lack of the sealing washers gives it a slightly smoother locking feel, less gritty feeling.

looking on their site the other night and they are now offering these for large frame AR's too. Hopefully they release the upper bolt combo like they did for the AR15. Tempting to pick one up for a cheap prone gun build

Finally had a chance to try it out at the range. I gotta say I’m liking it. It works way better than just a side charger without a gas port. Had some great groups out of my 224valkyrie from it. May just have to get a few more.

And gotta say if y'all go down this route....just buy the in barrel upper because sweet Lord it don't make any sense how tight BCA puts these things on. Also the real avid AR wrench is not the one to use for these barrel nuts ...honey that might have been my problem. Any how thing just keep slipping and ..yeah...ended up having to use my uncle's vice a small pipe wrench and a cheaper pipe
Ate UK the outside and found out the inside threads where toast so had to cannibalize a older upper I had lying around

Which was also a BCA and ...yeahhh

Ok also something I wanted to being up is this lil dude
IMG_20250326_121734084.jpg
The gas port sleeve. Something I noticed at the end of the last shooting session with this gun was that the gas port sleeve had loosed and was walking up and down the barrel like so

Now that could really been on me for not checking and what not but a lil thread locker might be something y'all should look at

I broke the teeth off my barrel wrench. I then went to my buddy's and we broke his.

We resorted to a pipe wrench, cheater, and vise, as well.

I dunno if they don't use torque specs or simply don't care since its cheap crap. Either way, it's quite ridiculous.

Also lil tip. This thing sling brass just like an AR is it's not super easy to do the whole open palm thing a lot of guys don't catch there brass as they rack the bolt.
Sticking you index finger out an in a little with usually catch that brass and make sure it's drops next to you or what I've been doing iis working my finger so it stays in the action

And the latest build, lil .300blk I did with there builders kit.... I will say it's definitely not as smooth as my other one. Lil 10.5" 300blk for slinging cast bullets .

This one was giving me way more fits then my first one so I've don't a few things to it after reading a post over on AR-15 .com where they where really deep diving it. Basically it catches when your trying to rack the bolt and what I can see is there just enough side to side movement in there that if you exert too much force to the right the bol head will catch on the extension lugs....also there something that's causing some friction mid way from the bolt being completely back....idk Ive polished and added a bit of a chamfer/radius to most of the bearing surfaces ... Did have to do anything like this with the last one... Weird ..also cut the "WINGS "off the rear of the BCG and snow I can add some type of filling stock if I really wanted
