Barrel tuners

I edited my post with the pic, but it still gets the point across.
It matters because that's why group shapes are predictable, though. They follow the sine wave pattern. More on that later maybe.

Will try that next time out.
I don't know how much on his tuner but the idea should be to take it from completely in tune to completely out of tune, however far that is on your gun, with his tuner. Eric should be able to tell you how far that is, or very near it. But once you know that, you can break it down into workable segments. Again, with mine, it's 4-5 marks between completely in to completely out. That's what you're looking for. Then read the shape of the groups at each mark between in and out. That's how you know how far to move it as tune changes from mostly temp changes. I'm pretty certain the shapes will be predictable, which takes out the guess work, once you establish those shapes.

@gunsandgunsmithing ever thought about making an adapter or making some direct thread for common barrel threads? That's why I went with the EC even tho I had to get a adapter made.
I do offer 1/2-28 and 5/8-24 adapters. I can't make them for any and every possible thread size but those are the most common pre-threaded bbl threads and they cover a lot of ground. Any time you can, I think it's best to do a direct fitment but I'm splitting a pretty fine hair with that statement. What thread do you have?

I currently own and use an Ezell tuner on a 300wsm along with the Dan Bramley tuner on a 6GT and 284 Shehane. I've also owned an EC tuner on a 284 Shehane. They all work as advertised and I haven't had an issue with any of them in so far as I was able to make adjustments and fine tune loads to the point where I am very happy with. Despite its light weight, my preference is the Dan Bramley tuner for no other reason than it requires minimal material removal off the barrel and looks very neat, and if due to component selection you are running close to the weight limit, this tuner weighs buggerall.

The Ezell requires more focus and attention on keeping clean as it has a lot more material extending beyond the end of the barrel and therefore fouls up a lot, so I always dip a few patches in Brasso which is excellent at removing the carbon.

Might want to take a closer look before making a judgement. ;)
Ouch…a little touchy on Monday, are we?? I merely made two statements,
A. It looks like a muzzle brake
B. If so, it wouldn’t likely be legal in most competitive shooting situations

I stand by both statements and neither require a “closer look”, and I’d hardly call my statement a “judgement”. Just a heads up to new folks in the sport so they don’t unnecessarily show up to a competition with a non confirming firearm.
Have a great day

Not touchy at all but your statement wasn’t true and you would have seen thy if you took a closer look before posting.

Being able to use a brake or a suppressor with the ATS tuner is one of its features but not required.

Sorry I didn’t understand what the “A” in “ATS” stood for. No need for me to click on a tuner by any name other than Ezell. The price is right, it works, and the customer support is second to none. All of these may very well be the case with the ATS tuner as well. It would be like telling my father in law that there could possibly be a better farm tractor than an International Harvester. Lol.

Wow! Dave, if you were just a little bit prettier, I'd kiss ya!:p
Thank you for the vote of confidence in me and my tuners. It sure makes me feel good whenever I hear compliments on them. I'm here if you ever have questions. Happy to be of help!--Ezell:)

I’m sure I’ll have more questions when my new barrel arrives and I put my tuner on it. The one on my girlfriend’s dasher was a breeze to set. I would however like to learn more about how to adjust it quickly if it isn’t shooting as tight as usual on a particular day….especially at a competition. I’d love to discuss how to fine tune it quickly at 600 or 1000 yards.

We'll go through it in detail and what to look for, what to do and why. Just give me a call when you're ready. Thanks again!--Mike

They are with ATS as well but if you never try anything else then you never know what is out there that may or may not be better. ;) Have to look and try to learn.

I don’t mess with a known winning formula. Their are lots of users on this site that will be happy to share their experiences with Mike and the Ezell Tuner. Honestly, even a seasoned expert like Mike would probably agree with me when I say, almost all tuners operate under the same theory and if used in the proper manner to arrive at the setting that offers the desired outcome; each and every one of them can accomplish the job. That being said, why not go with the one that offers you the opportunity to pick up the phone and speak directly to the designer? I’m not going to try to get you to change your mind if you are happy with what you’re using. Good luck.

Not trying to change your mind either but broaden it. You are obviously happy with your tuner and I might try one in the future as they sound good. Will have to look into them and learn. ;)

You can pick up the phone, email, pm or message on Facebook Aaron Hipp who make the ATS also. He’s very nice and helpful. See him at matches also.
