Barrel tuners

I respect Bryan and his work but I question his results for a few reasons. One of which is in your post, where you quoted him as saying "over 1800 rounds fired, in 4 different rifles and 4 different tuners.?
Off the top of my head, that's roughly 110 rounds per setup. I'm sorry, but I have more significant practice sessions than that, just for kicks.
As I find out more and more details of his test, the more issues I see with his methodology and processes.

This seems beneath him in terms statistical significance and actual testing. But if the intended result was to draw lots of interest in his new book, I think he did a fine job.
Well, I'll not be getting rid of my tuners any time soon! :)

Some issue with methodology did crop up for him as with the very last test where the shooter, with his personal rifle, would shoot slowly to keep the heat of the barrel down. But, even so, the results ended up pretty much the same. Apparently, on the previous test, the rounds were fire somewhat rapidly without that consideration. Though, for each tuner, he did stick to the manufacturer's instructions.

I have no doubt that the subject matter included in the book was intended to draw lots of interest as there are many shooters interested in looking at test results and raw data, as I am. I feel his integrity is such that he wouldn't purposefully skew the tests just to create controversy to sell his book. He was surprised by the results as I was. And I feel he would probably sell just as many those books if the results were the other way around. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am really impressed by the EC Tuner Break. I have one on my 6arc AR.

With Hornady Black the rifle shot 1" groups, was able to get them down to 1/2" groups, and was hitting a piece of 8X8 steel at 1000 yards.

I liked it so much my dad put one on his rifle.

I was impressed with my first purchase to the point of now owning 5 as soon as my last one arrives. I went with the V2 tuner model this time because I want to be able to shoot in our local crowd if they complain about the Tuner/Brake being too loud or bothersome.

Recently mounted an EC Tuner Break set at -0- and finished an OCW test. Now I've got to verify a couple of those loads, then follow up with tuner adjustments to see what improvement I might get.

From chapter 4 round count and test setup are as follows:
22lr 800+ rounds with a ATS tuner,
.308 f tr rifle 1 575 rounds Cortina tuner, .308 f tr rifle #2 DSB Fabrication 150 rounds, 6mm Dasher ATS XL tuner 300 rounds + 200 rounds with 4 different muzzle device configurations. So 1225 center fire and 800 rim fire. Vol 3 is a fun read, some other reloading sacred cows are slaughtered.
Is he saying a tuner on a rimfire doesn't make a difference? If so all the other data he claims is shit anyway

Theres a lot of cats out there shooting rimfire that have wasted a lot of time...
Yup looks like it. The industry is chalk full of snake oil, probably just need some Tubb dust, or final finish bullets to get the edge on the competition. You know rather then complain about it I should be selling "Accuracy Beans", just put three of these babies in your back pocket and they shrink your groups.

Get Tony to put them in his pockets.
You will sell them by the truck loads.

The thing that disappointed me about the testing in Bryan’s book is that it has to many outside factors that were not eliminated. Then there was no control of barrel temperature to make all shots as equal as possible. IMO the testing should have been done in a controlled environment with the rifle or barreled action in a device to remove the human factor and the environmental conditions with a bit more distance to see more of the dispersion. Different environmental conditions may be where a tuner shines but you can’t control those for scientific testing purposes.

For me this was not a scientific test.
