I wasn’t being negative, just laughing a little at how people promote things to their benefit. It goes on all the time in this forum.Maybe I’m gullible, but I don’t get the negativity. I’ve met this guy in person and he’s not a bad guy. Why can’t we just take it for what it is and move on? I don’t think anyone that already owns a Garmin is going to toss it and buy an Athlon, but the Athlon is a solid option for someone that doesn’t have one yet and I bet the market agrees.
And Garmin has a long history of sucking in the software department. I’ve liked and owned their stuff for decades but the software implementation, updates and server syncs can be frustrating at times.Garmin has a long history of providing support for their products and software (including interface software).
Origin of manufacture for the new athlon?
China?
If so that’s a major obstacle for me.
I think the garmin is made in TaiwanI believe the Athlon and Garmin devices are both made in Chi-Na.
I think the garmin is made in Taiwan
Per a Garmin rep on another site...
"Garmin doesn't use OEM manufacturers in China. Garmin consumer products are built in Garmin owned factories by Garmin employees in Taiwan"
I use the same philosophy on Sightron vs Nightforce.250 extra dollars saved for the Athlon will go toward more powder. From what I've seen the Athlon is faster.
I would not trade my Garmin in, but i would go for the Rangemaster over the Garmin just because 600 bucks is a lot for a 3oz box.
You noticed I didn’t say, Athlon vs Nightforce.Using optics quality as a comparison to chronographs is laughable, not even in the same universe.
The Arken cronos have not been out long enough to fully field test them and
as far as where they are made is really not relevant because most all of the electronic
components are most likely from Chi-na.
I want to know if you are able to go back and add shots to a previous string of shots in
this new Arken crono something you cannot do with Labradar or the Garmin.
